I figured this was going to happen when Gibbs went to Toyota last year. You could see it on his face during the press conference last year, if fact you never hear him put in a plug for Toyota when he does interviews. His loyalty to Chevy is one of the main things that is driving this change I believe. So for him to be part owner of an organiztion that is already established, having a great shop, and getting engines from a team like Hendrick Motorsports. It's pretty much a no brainer. The big questions that I'm waiting to get answered is who is going to be his crew chief. While I would love Zippy to follow (But I don't think he will), I hope he can maybe grab the crew chief from the 20 car in the Nationwide series.

I saw Smoke Laval at Denny's last night. He's clearly disappointed with the direction they are going with the Moons Over My Hammies. I can totally see him switching to IHOP.

What exactly are they doing with Moons Over My Hammy? Hands down my favorite snack from Denny's.

qball, you keepin the hat? Sorry dude. Good luck to smoke cause if he has not been lookin, nothing but pictures of failed owner/ driver everywhere. Hope it works for him but I predict he gets two wins over the next two seasons and those coming from strategy calls. I do believe that he can bring success to Hass. Think Newman jumps ship too? Rummers are, Home Depot going, not going are at 50/ 50 now! 1.5 hours and we all know...

Lastly, that 20 car will hardly feel the pain. Sliced Bread is gonna wheel that thing back to a championship within the next 4 seasons.

Home Depot will stay with the coach. I think Old Spice and Office Depot will jump on the Smoke wagon. Stewart-Hass Racing they call it!

I've always liked Tony Stewart but I couldn't cheer for the 20 Car. I work for Lowe's and am a Cowboys fan! Now that he's leaving Gibbs, I can actually cheer for him now.

That's how jayski.com calls it as well, expects an official announcement when they go to Indy. They also look for Ryan Newman to pilot the second SHip.

My initial reaction to the news of Smoke leaving JGR was disappointment, but after thinking about it, its probably in his best interest. Besides the Chevy-Toyota deal, it appears JGR is putting most of its efforts into the Shrub and Hamlin teams. Smoke has plenty left in his tank; no need for him to sit still and let himself be pushed out the door. I only wish Zippy were going with him. Not to mention Home Depot; now I'm going to have to go buy a new jacket.

Yep, keepin the hat. Maybe talk a red Sharpie and scratch out "HOME" and write "OFFICE" on it just for kicks. Only year Smoke was in a Camry. I think he about halfway through next year he will be running Top 10s. Great drivers can make bad cars good and good cars great. I will still pull for Shrub, I will always love JGR.

Gut tells me that with this load off his shoulders Smoke can very well go on a tear and pile up 3 wins over the next 5 or 6 raqces. Got himself some success in a few joints or more in the next month and some. Indy next week, Watkins Glen and the summer Michigan and Bristol rounding out the month of August. He will get at least one of them.

qball, keep your hat dude! Serious take it back to Talladega and get him to sign it. Last year in the 20, its a keeper. :thumb:

Dude where have you been, old news, Office Depot is going to sponsor smoke, not sure on the number. Newman will be on board and who cares who his sponsor is. Geez, thought you guys were on top of this stuff.
