I really don't have a problem with the calls on the field. The game moves fast and mistakes happen. I can understand that. It's the replay system that is the problem. There is no reason to get a call wrong when you can choose for 30 different angles in hi def, rewind, and play back in slow mo. How is it that the network can find the best angle, play it on TV, the announcers and entire audience can see what the correct call is in less than 30 seconds but the refs need 10 minutes and then get it wrong?

Edit: I just saw that the replay guys do not have HD. Are you kidding me? They can't go down to Walmart and pick up a $300 LCD? The damn concession stands have them.

Slive needs to get a PR job in the Obama admin. He'd fit in just fine with those smooth talking, lying sacks of sh!t in the white house. What a bunch of BS from the conf commissioner no less. The BCS $$$ Rules my friends.

As with a lot of others, I have to wonder why, when there is so much at stake, conference officials viewing replays to determine the accuracy of a challenged call are saddling themselves with something less than the latest technology (HD television) to make the call? Is it to have an out when a bad call is made to support a particular team, especially when a good percentage of the televisions fans are watching on are in HD? It just seems the top two teams have gotten the benefit of incorrect calls that have helped them pull games out at critical times of games that would have put their unbeaten streaks in jepordy.

Secondly, why aren't officials paid more to call games? The television stations and schools are making big $'s off of games they call. Officials are undoubtably football enthusiasts who may also be swayed by placing bets on games they are directly involved in to supplement their income. By paying them more, they may value their job more and not be as easily swayed by gambling as a supplemental way of income.

Thirdly, why not have officials rotate conference to conference so there is no tie to any one particular conference or team? I'm sure the rules are not different from one conference to another. I'm sorry if they have to sometimes may need to inconvenience themselves with crossing time zones, public interest and promotion of fairness warrant an independent official calling every game. Probably try working the same teams of officials together. When a weak link appears, break that link and insert someone else and put the weak link on the sideline.

There is just no reason in the world, with the technology available now, that as many incorrect calls that have happened this year should be accepted...or happen.

There's a reason Bama fans, coaches, and AD are the only group NOT complaining. Care to guess why?

    Now where's my cowbell...

    best refs? haha
tonight, LSU went from a 4th and 5 to a 4th and 1, then a 3rd and 1, then back to a 4th and 1 after an offsides on la tech and a replay to see what down it was.

That cost Georgia 15 yards on their next kickoff. And then we got the same bogus make-up call on us 23 seconds later which evened it out.

The blown call at Bama cost LSU possession of the ball and an opportunity to get back a score. Bama and Florida are getting all the calls this year. Some day this miserable officiating is going to bite you in the ass, too. probably in the SECCG because Florida is anointed.
