AUBURN -- Tom Slater has resigned as head coach of the Auburn baseball program, Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs announced Saturday.

“Jay and I met this morning and we mutually agreed that there is going to be a change,” Slater said. “I’d like to thank Jay Jacobs, Dr. Ed Richardson and Auburn University for the wonderful opportunity I was given to be the head coach.”

In four seasons as head coach, Slater had an overall record of 115-113 and a Southeastern Conference record of 43-77. This season, Auburn was 28-28 and 11-19 in the SEC.

Well now, you can't go resigning every time you get swept by LSU. There would be no stability in that :thumb:

announced yesterday ..... decision had already been made about a week ago. Too bad, but it was past time for corrective measures. IMO.

So, who's on the short list? I'd take a good look at whoever is coaching Coastal Carolina.

Well, that is two open positions in the Western Division (Auburn and MSU). Anyone hear any rumors about replacements?

On the wish list threads Gary Gilmore has been listed, funny someone said almost the exact thing you did:

    Scout.com: Auburn Forums List

"The coach at Costal Carolina...whoever (or is that whomever) that may be."

Sure you don't have some barner in you?:)

No way they will get my choice, Frank Anderson at Okie St.

Auburn has hired Carr Sports Asscociates to assist in the search for a new HC. They are a consulting/search firm headed fy Former Fla. AD Carr. Names I have heard mentioned in the early going are:

    Current HCs:
    --Bobby Pierce, Troy
--Casey Dunn, Samford (former Auburn player)
--Q.V. Lowe, AU-Montgomery (former Auburn player)

    Current Ass't Coaches:
    --Mark Calvi, South Carolina
    --Chad Holbrook, N.C.
    --Jason Eller, Ga.
    --Mike martin, FSU
    --Greg Bergeron, Cal. St./Fullerton

Dunn was a popular player and successful coach who is an early sentimental favorite.

That's funny because I almost added (whomever?) after whoever.

There could be a little barner in me because I know for a fact that goats are faster than I am.:hihi:
