Last year, I had Florida on the road as an almost certain loss. I had Bama, Georgia, and Ole Miss as tightly competitive games and the rest as likely or certain wins. And LSU won the ones it was supposed to, loss the one it was supposed to, but lost a close 1-2 split with the other competitors. This year is different. ALMOST CERTAIN LOSSES I've got nobody. Florida is sans Tebow. Bama replaces almost all starters. TIGHTLY COMPETITIVE GAMES Bama - at our place with new faces Florida - on the road will still be tough Ole Miss - at home and we owe them one West Virginia - big intersectional TV game in Tiger Stadium LIKELY WINS Tennessee - new coach, lots of issues, in Tiger Stadium North Carolina - in the Georgia Dome, LSU should be better Auburn - we should be better, but they are tough at home. Arkansas - a potential dark horse and it's at their place ALMOST CERTAIN WINS State - not there yet Vanderbilt - never there Monroe - overmatched McNeese - overwhelmed So, if we win the four easy ones, win the four hard ones, and split the four big games, LSU will be 10-2. And into the SECCG if Bama and Ole Miss are among the wins. It all depends on whether our quarterbacks play like steady juniors and get the ball quickly into the hands of some very talented backs and receivers.
I'd move WVU to a "likely win." Obviously things will be different in the fall - but if lines came out today we wouldnt be "likely wins" against Auburn and Arkansas. Who knows how Cam Newton will do...but they should have a great o-line, and more importantly both of these games are on the road.
I feel that if problems were corrected from last season and a decent running game was present, Auburn and Arkansas should be likely wins. Though, that in no way means EASY win.....
I think Auburn and Arkansas are going to be greatly improved as well, though. I still think we will be the better team, but they aren't sitting idly by, letting us widen the gap.
That is very true and either of those 2 team can easily throw a wrench in our quest back to the SEC Championship. I think we will know a lot about this team after the first game.
Exactly the comments I was going to make. I'm a little concerned about WVU just because I know our team's focus is on the SEC, but I do believe we're a better team than them. Auburn & Arkansas will both be tight games, as they are very dangerous teams.
So, if they go up a category to the games we will probably split, then we're looking at 9-3 at best. I'm counting on one or both of those teams to have a disappointing year. They have certainly had consistency issues.
I can see 10-2 if we get improved Off line and QB play. Defense should be better, although DL is a little concerning. But that's a big IF, JJ has GOT to improve, he can't play the youth card anymore.
I think the biggest question mark is the DL. I'm not saying that's the weakest link, just the biggest question mark. We learned absolutely NOTHING about the DL in the spring game. Too many of them were out, and it was starters.
I think this is the first time I've read a post by red and actually felt better about something afterward. If we can get that run game going and just have Jefferson not lose games for us, we can go far this season. If Jefferson can turn a corner, we can go even farther.
