Mett will play the first half and Jennings will hand off in the second half. If he does throw a pass, it won't be longer than 10 yards. I doubt Rivers ever sees the field in the rest of his LSU career...just being realistic.
Hell, no. I'd probably shoot myself (or my hunting partner) in the foot. When I chaperoned a three-day fifth grade camp for my daughter, we had to do archery. Their one rule was, "Keep the arrows in this enclosed area. We don't want to have to go searching the countryside for missing arrows." I let one fly that they never found; I probably killed some stray dog or something.
Just wanted to bitch some more... We haven't seen much of this in Miles' tenure, sadly. I think we've seen two years of solid qb play since Miles has been here. And I firmly believe qbs have been mismanaged, including starting a fully inexperienced qb next season. Again. I didn't want folks to think complaints were only in response to a close loss to a depleted unranked sec west opponent.
Which is exactly why I am glad people like you are not in position to make these decisions. Only 10 teams can wind up in a BCS bowl (counting the title game) and the season is a write off? You want to sit Mett after his worst game and ruin his confidence? You want to tank the season by throwing in an unproven, young QB and ruin his confidence also (you know like we did with Jarrett Lee and JJ)? It kills me to see alleged fans want to lose out and prep for next year. That is a loser mentality. Real fans want to see LSU fight to the finish in every game, even if it means we lose every game from here out by a last minute field goal. If a top 10 or top 15 finish isn't good enough for you, you need your head examined.
I'm not for tanking the season, but there should not be a reason an LSU QB isn't good because of his age when plenty of teams with lesser talent get their young QB's to perform at high levels. Again, I think Mett SHOULD be the starter this season. Just saying.
No, not sit Mett as a punishment. I honestly believe he has an undisclosed leg injury. And no, I'm not writing off the season as far as winning is concerned, more in winning an NC. Like I said before, I want them kicking ass. As other have rightly said, let Mett get some reps and get the game well in hand. Then, give the other guys some playing time. And you are correct @Herb, I would suck as a football coach! And I am glad I don't have to make those decisions.
In big time college football, there is no next year. Les knows his salary is predicated on w's and l's. as are all coaches at this level. Mett will sit eventually but will not be for next years qb to prepare. It will be to prevent injury. Les does not prepare green qbs. He likes to throw them into the fire. Jennings will learn how to hand off in the 4th.
Trust me, I would suck too! I haven't thought that he might have an undisclosed leg condition. Maybe LSU should consider playing Mett for a quarter against Furman then let him rest up for A&M and the goobers.
