So lets reward our senior quarterback who could still have one of the greatest statistical seasons an LSU quarterback has ever had by benching him for the LSU homecoming game. Sounds legit.
Didn't you get the memo, LaSalle? This season is a write-off. We're starting to work on next year--so I hope you enjoyed Mett, Landry, OBJ when you could because we're playing the young guys more than them from now on.
I'm not saying I don't want them to try to win games. Far from that. I want them out there kicking ass. It was more of writing it off for an NC or possibly a BCS bowl. Just use this Furman game to get some of the guys they'll be needing to step up next season, get some game experience.
I couldn't agree more, especially at the QB position......we've got to get these guys some live action besides handing off the 33 dive.
On the flip side, we don't want our starters getting too rusty after sitting for two weeks until Bama. I would like to see some of the younger guys, too, but not at the expense of what can still be a damn strong season.
Jennings needs at least one game with some extended playing time and the entire playbook open to him. There won't be a better chance than this game. But I wouldn't sit Mett completely; I think he probably needs a little confidence boost right now.
