Wow It is starting to come together guys. Jason Teague and Singleton commit today. Way to go Coach Miles.
Good question. I don't believe the # of stars they have is as nearly as indicative of the quality recruit they are as is what other schools are recriting them. Rivals Recruiting Yearbook does not mention either so it has been hard for me to get a lead on them.
As much as I always love recruiting information there appears to be a Recruiting forum that one can (and should) use. http://www.tigerforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=114 Just a helpful link. :thumb:
Although I agree with Turk and the quality of recruits(Number of stars), but sometimes it is a matter of a good fit in combination of being academically qualified
Today we got two good recruits at two much needed positions. Way to go coaching staff! Remember, we needed quantity of quality guys on the O-line this class. Reguardless of who we sign in this class, unless they're just an outright BEAST of a lineman, the most they'll get in '06 is playing time. Nothing against ANY of our o-line commitments, but I don't think a true-freshman lineman will be starting for us in '06--but some of those guys might be relied upon to provide relief as true freshmen. We didn't need o-linemen to come here and start as true freshmen in '06--just compete for playing time--And for the rest of them, we just needed them to be here, get some experience under their belt with a possible redshirt year, and be prepared to be ledgitimate challengers to start in '07. We need quality guys on the o-line, and that is just what we're getting. I say the only thing keeping the recruitment of linemen from being considered "job accomplished" is to get possibly one or two additional--just for cushion.
Both are 3 Star recruits on Rivals, Singleton is a 4 Star on Scout. Jason Teague was an LSU/OU along with Texas A&M battle & LSU has been on Singleton for a long, long time. That one came down to LSU/South Carolina & West Virginia. :geauxtige
For Teague, other than LSU, his ONLY other choice was OU (oh, the humanity of narrowing your choices down to 2 programs that have been associated with 2 of the last 3 national title games) And for Singelton, other than us, he was ONLY narrowing his choices down to current Big East champ and Sugar Bowl participant, WVU AND Steve Spurrier-coached South Carolina---who'll be a ledgit SEC East contender as early as next season... Yeah...no one else of real importance challenged LSU for their commitments. :thumb:
Number of stars isn't all it's cracked up to be... Tyrone Prothro- *** DeMeco Ryans- *** Keneth Darby- *** Wallace Gilberry- *** Those a just a few that have played more like 5 star guys...
