When we were having the same discussion in the preseason we all looked at Ensmingers resume. I recall very vividly the offense he ran in 2008 during Tubs last season at Auburn. It was the same thing we saw this season.
Perhaps a little. The important point about that game is The Citadel running the triple option. Think long and hard about a team that hasn't had difficulty defending that offense when it's something they don't see. Hell, I'll bet some of the guys won't see an offense like that the rest of their football careers.
That's two games, right? Auburn -10 and UGA -7? (Going off memory here so those numbers may be off.) Auburn is easy enough to answer--they aren't what a lot believed them to be. They are what they've always been--can't maintain success from year to year. The outcome shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone. Again, don't misunderstand this. UGA was a good win for LSU! But we have to add this--did we all not say "UGA will drop a game at some point during the season." Like Auburn, they are who they've always been.
The LSU bowl game against GTech comes to mind. Recall them getting waxed. However, LSU did have weeks to prepare and a clock eating, grinding ground game does fit Les's style well. Like most things Citadel gains were prob a mix of both points stated.
This summarizes much of what most consider reasonable criticism of E's offense, dated and predictable regardless of personnel/execution misfires. Kaka melt imminent.
100. Not a reasonable comment this year for that game. Need to review some key stats....like injuries.
@uscvball injuries actually support the point. Depth was pointed in the preseason. It's another hyped up UGA team in my opinion. My mistake is my perspective. Mea culpa.
I agree with you that they are and were a bit overhyped all season. My point is only that despite the loss and hype, this team is still different than the perennial, UGa is gonna drop a game. Kirby is not Richt. All that aside, Gurley struggled last night but still one of my current favorite NFL RB's.
Were you in the Colosseum last light? Would have been a great game to see live. I was rooted for KC because I wanted the Rams to drop a game behind the Saints but it was a hell of a spectacle.
No, not at the COLISEUM, lol. But it would have been nice to see good football played there this season. I'm hearing from friends that fantasy scores were all over the map. Gurley came up short but Mahomes, Hill, Butker, Woods, and Goff were solid. Could be the best game played there since USC/Fresno State circa 2005.
