I agree 110% with this statement. I don't care what anyone says. Let's not be naive. Our best case scenario for the season would have a likely re-match with the Gators. Why are we worried about whether or not they'll be at their best? For that matter, we'll be lucky if LSU won't be hampered by swine flu.
I don't care if Tebow plays or not. Injuries are part of the game. They get 'em, we get 'em. Strap it on and play football, Tim.
That's right. LSU has lost our starting qb's and gone on to win without them on several occasions. The '07 SEC Championship most recently.
Yep. I'm actually surprised that Tebow hasn't gotten his before now. I don't care how tough of a guy you are, you expose yourself that much, your time will come. Our starting QB and best WR were injured for a significant part of 2007, yet we still overcame.
Don't count on that from our students. On the way down from the stadium I heard enough "Tea-bag Tebow" and "I hope Tebow dies" to know better. If Tebow goes down, some of the students will be respectful, but there will be a large chunk dancing, sadly. There is a lot of just pure hate for the guy by students that I don't understand. Hell, I understand that people are already calling him and Brantley.
Championship Teams never have a thought of losing to anyone and don't think they can be beat no matter who is playing QB for them. If you weren't a fan and had watched us play earlier this season, and had listened to the talking heads, would you have any respect for LSU? I know I wouldn't. We all put our team under a microscope, looking for any improvement. The articles in the advocate were written from the homer perspective and are clearly different than what you read on the national sites. The exception being the senile Lou Holtz who still believes ND will play for the MNC. You can't really trust anything the old man says anyway. All-in-all, we have made significant improvements over the last week, and we need to continue to improve in all aspects of the game so that we can be competitive with a team that, on paper, is far superior to us. What the paper doesn't say is that we have all the intangibles which can not be measured.
Being a coach, and having seen this type of concussion before, I would not put this kid on the field any time in the near future. He is a senior who will be making millions next year. A real coach... hell, a real man would be looking out for this kids future. I'd rather not see the kid (and he is still a kid by today's standards) end up like Merril Hoge and have to learn how to read again...
That's kind of the point. They had no respect for Ole Miss last year, either. We play in a tough league and it is not a piece of cake to play on the road against the SEC upper tier. Upsets happen and they ain't particularly rare. We have upset #1 and defending National Champion Florida in Tiger Stadium before. We got upset by Florida in our 2003 National Championship year. We got upset by two teams during the 2007 National Championship season. Ole Miss upset Florida last year in theirs. Florida may be the cock of the walk and the once and future National Champion and we may be an underdog, but upsets DO happen.
you have a buncha spoiled-rotten mommy's boys and daddy's girls at LSU who don't know anything about real LSU football. some of them have been LSU fans for their entire lives, but a lot of them couldn't name you one player from the 2003 team. that's nothing new. but i really don't think that many LSU students would cheer if the dude got hurt. maybe i just don't want to think that? if i were next to someone at a game, and saw someone acting that way, i'd slap the phuck out of them. i agree with you about not understanding the hatred for the dude. just because he's good? just because the media sets him on a pedestal? he's still a fellow student, and human being. LSU students (or otherwise) should know better.
Let's remember that this game is being advertised as a meeting of the LAST THREE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. That's what it is, plain and simple. Florida fell apart in '07 after we beat them in Tiger Stadium. We fell apart last year. Who's to say that our guys don't step up big time on Saturday night? Les has never lost on a Saturday night in Death Valley. Meyer has never won in Death Valley (which makes his "they get pretty quiet" statement a bit ridiculous.) We know we have talent. We know it hasn't all shown up, yet. But we've shown some amazing character the past two weeks. May the ghosts of teams past be with us SATURDAY NIGHT IN DEATH VALLEY.... I'm fired up!
