The money quote: Of the LSU-Oklahoma State possibility, I've heard people say, "Why would you even want that? It would be a 25-point blowout." They might be right. But if the Cowboys win Saturday, they may have done more to earn the opportunity to prove us wrong than 'Bama has done to earn the chance to try again. This is a MAJOR publication's website, and Stewart Mandel is their highest-profile CFB writer. This is a big deal. Alabama better team, but Oklahoma State deserves BCS title shot - Stewart Mandel - SI.com
I would see what OSU does vs OU. I personally think OSU may lose that game. And all this matters not.
This thread title is misleading, because it's NOT an explicit endorsement of Okie State over Bama. Mandel is merely saying that Okie State deserves serious consideration should they beat OU.
Didn't try to mislead, but look at how SI.com labeled its hyperlink: Alabama better team, but Oklahoma State deserves BCS title shot - Stewart Mandel - SI.com
It's cool. I saw that too, then the title of the mailbag says that OSU may deserve a BCS title shot. That one little word makes a big difference, and fits in better with the theme of his response, where he specifically says he's not arguing for one team over the other.
I hear you. The big takeaway is that if OSU wins, a lot of voters are going to lay things out and really think about who gets to be #2.
OSU's one loss was to a terrible team the day after that schools womens basketball coaches died in a plane. You don't think that affected the team in any way? I believe if OSU beats OU, who was ranked #1 for the first few weeks of the season, they should be our opponents. Besides, I don't like having to beat the same team twice, especially when we beat them once at their place.
