I remember hearing of him, but I don't actually remember him. Seems LSU and Auburn didn't play that much in the 60's, I remember more games against Tx. A&M than Auburn. But I was in the stands for our 21-20 win in 1969, two great teams and a great game. Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley for you guys, Tommy Casanova, George Bevan, Mike Anderson, Bill Thompson for us guys. I remember more guys on that defense than on our offense, but I think Jimmy Gilbert and Buddy Lee were QB's. Shug's got a friendly face, was he ya'lls "Cholly Mac", good guy, good coach, players coach, loyal to the school?
That is definitely older than I was then.... Shug was a good man. It was a golden era of some very good men.
So was I. 41 years ago this fall, still a great memory. I was 12. 2 great plays from that game still stand out to this day. The opening scrimmage play of the game, Bert Jones pitches out to halfback Jimmy Gilbert. Who throws a TD pass to SE Andy Hamilton. Unusual afternoon (for those days) TS game, nationally televised by ABC. The second play was the game saver, the PAT block by All-American George Bevan. AU had scored to tie the game and the block saved the game. One of my favorite TS wins. We had just started playing AU again and beating them was GREAT.

I always thought Shug Jordan was a class act.
