Family ties drew Richard Dickson close to Mississippi State and Ole Miss when he was growing up in Ocean Springs, Miss. The LSU tight end's father Richard played offensive guard at State for coach Bob Tyler in 1977 and 1978. His grandfather Richard played offensive guard at Ole Miss for coach John Vaught in the late 1940s and early 1950s. His sister Carly is a graduate of Ole Miss.
