L4L posted this in the games of disinterest thread, but I thought it might get more attention in a thread of its own because this weekend is the first where we've got a good idea of each team after 4 or so games of the season and we're getting into conference play. Battle of Undefeated's: Friday 7pm: #5 Iowa (4-0) at Maryland (4-0) Saturday 11:00am: #8 Arkansas (4-0) at #2 Georgia (4-0) 1:30pm: #7 Cincinnati (3-0) at #9 Notre Dame (4-0) 2:30pm #12 Ole Miss (3-0) at #1 Alabama (4-0) 6:00pm #21 Baylor (4-0) at #19 Ok State (4-0) Undefeated Teams to keep an eye on: TBD: #14 Michigan (4-0) at Wisconsin (1-2) 2:30pm: #3 Oregon (4-0) at Stanford (2-2) 2:30pm: #6 Oklahoma (4-0) at K-State (3-1) 5:00pm: #10 Florida (3-1) at Kentucky (4-0) 6:30pm: Boston College (4-0) at #25 Clemson (2-2) 6:30pm: Indiana (2-2) at #4 Penn State (4-0) Arkansas vs Georgia: For me I think Arkansas if KJ was healthy would be a strong possibility, but I think Georgia is too much for what will likely be a one dimensional Arkansas offense. Cincinnati vs. Notre Dame: I like the Bearcats over Notre Dame who is terrible on offense. They're almost last in the country and rushing and have given up tons of sacks to boot. Hopefully it's a blowout so Walker Howard leaves early on that private jet he's flying up on to get to the Auburn game.. Ole Miss vs. Bama: I'll call it here, Matt Corral has the game of his life and he puts himself in strong consideration for not only the Heisman but to be the first overall draft pick for next year. He's not turning the ball over and I think Saban while he's dedicated several analysts to figure out how to stop Lane for an entire year will not be enough. If Bryce is gonna be that dude he needs to show it here. Baylor vs. Oklahoma State: No idea with Baylor and Okie State, but I'm pulling for Aranda. If he was a top level recruiter he'd certainly be on my list for the next guy to run LSU. Rhule didn't leave him a lot of talent last year. Michigan vs. Wisconsin: Michigan is about to get really hyped up as they should in fact beat a very pedestrian Wisconsin offense. Without Leonhard on defense they'd be in a world of trouble. Oregon vs. Stanford: Oregon should handle Stanford, but this is the type of game we often see the Ducks lose. I think the physicality that Mario had recruited on the lines changes that against a very well coached and often physical Stanford. Kansas State vs. Oklahoma: Is it an upset if Kansas State beats Oklahoma anymore? They keep doing it. I don't see why that would change this year. Florida vs. Kentucky: Florida deals Kentucky their first loss. It amazes me how well Mullen coaches his teams every damn year. He's never got the most talented team in the country, but he puts his guys in position to make it seem like they are more talented than they actually are. Imagine having Aranda and Mullen as your coordinators. Boston College vs. Clemson: I love what Hafley has done at BC and before the season I felt they'd beat Clemson... what's stunning is that they already have two losses and this will be their third. The Athletic just ran a great article on Clemson and how bad they are on offense. Tony Elliott was ripped apart by Orlovsky and RG3 who called their recent games. The offense was described as archaic, didn't scare anyone, and relied entirely on talent to beat the defense in recent years. Many NFL folks felt Dabo did not develop Trevor Lawrence and it is showing in his early pro career. Very fascinating commentary. Teams went nickel about 50% of the time last season. This year they're in nickel 99% of the time. Clemson run game gets zero respect. Penn State vs. Indiana: Penn State will handle an Indiana team that is showing how huge the loss of their two strength and conditioning gurus to Bama was. Those guys really made all the difference in Indiana being, well, typical Indiana most years and last year where they were as tough an out at the Big 10 had. So what say you? Your thoughts? Edit: Looks like Walker Howard might not be going on a jet to view the ND game after all. Ruston crushed STM tonight and Walker was injured and carried off the field in the third. Looks to be an ankle but have heard fractured fibula. Terrible news for Walker and his family.
First off, that is terrible news on Walker and prayers for a speedy recovery. That kid is special. I agree almost with everything. I’m not sure Ole Miss has the physicality to play smash mouth with Bama, so if I’m Saban that would be the style I would roll with. I’m hoping for an upset there just don’t know if it’s possible. Coral is damn good! I agree, I don’t think Arkansas has the horses and while it will be interesting early, Georgia pulls away late. 2011 LSU style win. That defense is unworldly. Cincinnati had the week off to prepare, but it’s at Notre Dame and not a whole lot of discussion about the advantage Notre Dame has having Cincinnati’s former DC on their sideline. This game is very intriguing. K-State has beaten OU 2 years straight and OU is struggling mightily right now (not to mention they could be looking ahead to Texas next week). This is a make or break game for the Sooners in 2021 and quite possibly for Riley and his future at OU. At some point, their ceiling is their ceiling and not saying OU would ever fire him, but he needs to consider adjusting his style. Maybe that is what he’s doing this year and it’s why they’re struggling but I think it’s more because their o-line is playing poorly (a lot like LSU). I too like what Hafley has done at BC and can see a scenario where Clempsun starts 2-3. Same with Wisconsin, they start 1-3! Michigan remains undefeated. I like the under in both of those games. I think Indiana took advantage of a Covid year and they’re not as good as advertised. Although that early loss to Iowa wrecked their season and Iowa looks to be pretty damn good. Penn State rolls in that game as well. Weird things have happened lately in Kentucky vs Florida. This one wouldn’t surprise me if Florida lost, but I think they squeak one out.
This! Riley isn't going anywhere for a bit. I think a combination of the OL and Spencer Rattler not being near as good as they think he is.
All I know is after this weekend there will only be 3 undefeated SEC teams and we may be one of em. If we lose to Auburn we will have the same SEC record as Fla, A&M, Kentucy, Ole Miss and Arkansas not a bad crowd to be in and gives a shot to still have a good season. I am predicting GA, Bama and Fla to win which means Ark, Ole Miss and Kentucky will all have losses. We win and we are in with GA and Bama and we will be in rarified air. If Ark and Ole Miss win we will have the same SEC record as GA and Bama. My point is I am not going to hyperventilate and call for scalps if we lose unless we get blown out. We give up big plays and drop passes this weekend we lose we don't we win simple as that. This is one game I will not predict because it's always WEIRD! It's my birthday weekend and will be looking for a birthday present from O.
Not saying there is truth to this, but I've heard rumblings that Lincoln isn't really stoked about the college game. Think he's feeling a bit Joe Brady after he whiffed on all the running backs last cycle and Tre Bradford showed up only to come back to LSU.. some suggested he'd be open to the NFL, but that he's also made it known to LSU if our job came open he'd definitely listen. Could be bs, but I don't find Lincoln to be a posturer like say Gruden or Petrino. Man, this Georgia defense is nuts. Reminds me of us in 2011, L4L... you still think anyone on our defense starts for Georgia, caca? Yikes. Not many that's for sure. Maybe some rotation guys and maybe Eli? Tennessee really either has improved or Missouri is typical Vanderbilt bad this year. How we lost to that qb, he's looked awful today. Sark has Texas trending the right way. Aggy fans before the year thought he was a terrible hire but his offense is so much Sexier than Jimbo. He will take all the offensive recruits he wants from Jimbo to Austin especially now that they'll be in the SEC. Aggy living on borrowed time in a sense imo. Wow what makes you take Kentucky over Florida? You're just talking point spread not an actual outright win, right kc?
fla-uk is a bit like LSU-auburn…. strange games happen a lot in this series. UK’s super bowl is tonight. I think it’s a close game, not sure the wildcats win but I think they’re in it late…
