I think putting Shep in for a few bombs would def open up the run, too. But if you have a QB who only does these tricky type plays, won't it stagger a future offense? Especially for the young guys now that don't have wheels? Or am I just overreacting?
Shepards window for being a full time QB closes rapidly if he is getting 15 touches a game as a hybrid runner. Miles promised him a shot at QB and he knows Shepard wont be developing as a QB if his only snaps are running plays. I think he is walking a tight rope between trying to satisfy Sheps aspirations and doing whats best for the team.
Why not line up JJ and RS split in the backfield in sort of a modified A11 set? With the rest of the weapons spread around the field and not knowing who is getting the snap, that would drive defenses nuts. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
Hey man.... the coaches know whats best. We won the game and now you're over here all second guessing??? Geaux Tigers!!! :milesmic::milesmic::milesmic:
we actually did line up with JJ and RS in backfeild together tonight but there was a penalty and we didn't get the play offI think delay of game..and after that they changed formations..
Yes, yes and more yes. You nailed it on the head. Their's your perfect picture folks. Imagine it in all it's glory.
But if he runs about 1/4 of those plays as passes instead, doesn't that keep his head where it should be? That he is being primed for QB play at LSU at some point in the future? I think Shepard is a great kid and will do whatever he is called upon at LSU and won't complain (much like Keiland has done). I don't think we need to worry about Shepard like that. He's grounded much better than most grownups.
I remember seeing that, but as I recall JJ was "under" center, in other words lined up to take the shotgun snap. As I understand the A11 (and my understanding of it is far from perfect) in some sets, the two (yes, two) QBs line up in a shotgun with their inside foot lined up with the center's heels. The center and QBs read the D and the ball is snapped to one or the other of the QBs depending on which wrinkle the offense is running. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
