Memphis, keep posting, bro. First of all, this was a very appropriate topic for discussion. Petrino is a douche, and some of the Arky media/fanbase call him out on this is something worth reading and knowing about. Secondly, agree with you about the new group of posters who have just shown up on the coat tails of LSUs success this year. All of this masochism, in your face, we are better than the world stuff gets very old and is not good representation of what really matters in sports overall, and specifically, LSU football. Hopefully, they tire out, and the forum gets back to more quality discussion like you were trying to do here. We gotta stay persistent for that to happen. This issue probably deserves its own thread, and maybe it has one. I am not one to go much to the sidelines and talk politics, etc, but the threads you refer to are problematic and will eventually turn away quality insight.
Sigh. I guess the media doesn't have much going on these days leading up to bowl season. Why does this crap continue to surface? Is everyone really that butt-hurt over words yelled across the sideline by a football coach? Something my high-school coach used to do all the time, including kicking the yard marker. Should he apologize? No. The lackadaisical response by CBP when asked about it confirms my and most fans I know's feelings toward the matter completely. Complete and utter garbage not worthy of a minute's more attention. The fact that it was caught on camera and dragged through the mud by media types (same as lawyers to me) doesn't give it any merit and certainly doesn't warrant a public apology. I'm not phucking embarrassed or hurt by it. It's football. I admire the fact that we have a coach that doesn't give a frick what you think. He is my coach and I will support him until given a reason otherwise. Folks bashing and wishing ill will is amusing, and meaningless. [/rant]
The fact that you're having to compare BP to your high school coach in order to condone the action should tell you that something is amiss. No, his response was more indicative of him not owning up to his actions. It's complete bullsh!t for him to act like he doesn't recall it. It was the last game that he coached in, and a big deal of it was made at the time. True to form, Petrino is lying. For someone who likes to do that so much, he ain't very good at it. I think you've mistaken his lack of concern over his image for a lack of class and maturity. This is big boy football. A head coach can't get his feelings hurt when he's getting taken to the woodshed. This is a pretty good reason otherwise. It's one thing to support your coach, but it's another thing to blindly refuse to see fault in his actions because he coaches your favorite team.
No, it's unsportsmanlike. There's no need for it in football. Fine, and we will rake him over the coals all we want, too. He's a spineless piece a shyt. If it's meaningless, why are you defending it on an LSU forum?
I really don't know why this is a story. A coach got mad and cursed across a field. It happens all the time. Was it cool? Nope. Would we want our coach to do it? Nope. Will a coach curse on the field at another coach in the future? Sure. It's slow right now in the football world. That's the only reason this is a story.
Boy, it sure was, Lol Disagree. I can think of alot of reasons to throw a human being under the bus (PennState) comes to mind, but this does not qualify IMO. That may be true, I don't know him well enough to make this judgement. Good question. I realize this is a hopeless endeavor on my part.
