I still don't understand how so many people are saying no, don't have the conversation. That makes zero sense.

You are drunk on hurricane right now. It is not a good idea to strike up a conversation. You might wake up the next morning actually in bed with that ugly bitch conference and she sucks you wallet dry.

Unless you're willing at some point to go all the way by leaving, there's no point in having the conversation.

Lets say for shits and giggles LSU had the talk, the BIG12 tells us everything we want to hear. Then what? Does LSU go to the office in B'ham and say the BIG12 is willing to do this for us, match it or we're gone. What does LSU do when the SEC tells us to kick rocks?

Now LSU leaves the SEC. Say goodbye to top 10 recruiting classes, say goodbye to LSU football as we know it.

Definitely have the conversation. Big 12 issues are that there aren't any quality teams to pluck that would give some credibility to the conference. They should be falling all over themselves to bring in an LSU-caliber team. An LSU/BYU or an LSU/Houston combo is MUCH more palatable.

That said I don't think LSU should leave but they'd have all the leverage in that conversation. I just don't think current leadership is savvy enough to make it a win-win.

When Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie weren't feeling the love back home they left for Texas, it just got them killed. Pretty sure it wasn't the gameplan.

wow that's a crazy analogy. You have the conversation. Do you leave? You don't have to, but not listening to an offer is pretty dumb. If someone came to you with a job offer you wouldn't even listen? That's crazy.

I don't necessarily agree with that.

That's not the point, you don't have to be willing to leave, just be willing to listen to what's offered. There is zero harm in that. It gives you leverage. Whether or not this administration is capable of turning it into a win well that's a different conversation. And I disagree with goodbye everything if they leave. There are schools in other conferences that seem to do just fine. The SEC is not the be all end all.
