I think you and I are in full agreement except that I am optimistic and you are not.

I don't think Miles is playing more conservatively since 2007. He hasn't had a leader under/behind center since 2007. I think people underestimate how critical Mauck and Flynn were to the 2003 and 2007 teams.

I also don't think Jefferson and Lee are completely written off yet. They both still have a chance to have a light-switch moment - they're kids, still. I'm not saying it's going to happen - and I'm not confident. But it's still possible.

If it does happen - even in a very moderate fashion - this team is going to take off like a rocket and there will be a lot of emotionally confused LSU "fans" watching Les lift another crystal football in January.

I do not expect this to happen. But I really wish it would. This and all LSU message boards would be so much fun to read.

Well considering Miles and Crowton are ultimately responsible for recruiting them and coaching them both.... WHY not.. Hell play Shep at QB. I bet Shep could run the option at least as well as JJ.

Play adam sandler...anybody... is it possible to play someone Miles didnt recruit? a walk on maybe?

    that might be the answer.

Fantastic post! I am more confident of the light-switch moment than most on this board. I can see it happening! One of them CAN do it. This is what makes college football different than any other sport! A chance for redemption and you can see these guys mature from 18 to 21 years old right before your eyes on a national stage. Remember Hookfin!

And when it happens... WOW! This team will be unstoppable. I am going to watch these games waiting and hoping this happens because to me it is much more enjoyable to look at it this way and to pull for our players and support them even when some of them are stinking it up. When that magic happens (and we stuggle past UT and then blow out UF), it will be so much more enjoyable for fans like me. My optimism would be validated while the nega-tigers would be sitting around wondering when the next shoe will drop. Seems like a win-win for me. I am happier and LSU is more successful!

If it doesn't happen, then I will be just as crushed as the nega-tigers. No avoiding that! You won't really feel better just because you prepared yourself for failure. It still sucks to have a crappy team (5-7 record). In the process of preparing yourself for failure, you end up bashing a perfectly descent season like last season and you end up with 9-4 being the end of the world.

Last season was really not that bad. It looks like 2 years of improvement since 2008, be happy!

Miles said this week that Lee has been very competitive, and that he has impressed the coaches because he is still there trying to improve, week in and week out. I think Lee's positive mental acuity is what this team needs, not the self-doubting JJ.

With all the play makers on o maybe a positive leader on the field is all we need. Ready and willing and excited to perform can be better than pretty sometimes.

Unfortunately, that's no different than JJ.

should we go for every deity or just Jesus?

My whole thing with the quarterback position is this.

I would like to see Lee start just to see what he has, or maybe get some split time, but I am cool with sticking with JJ if he is the better man, I just hope Lee is ready to play when the playcalling gets Jefferson killed from running the ball 17 times a game for 30 yards.
