His last start was against La Tech last year.

7-of-22 passes for 105 yards and one touchdown pass

On the season, 16-of-40 passes for 197 yards and two scores and 1 INT.

    Red,
I've coached football up to the high school level for 12 years and I would absolutely disagree. With very few exceptions, you play how you practice. The only exception I've ever heard of at LSU was Rohan, and with Rohan it was his work ethic not a skill or talent issue as I believe is the problem with JL

That's the only true measuring stick the coaches have. You cannot watch a kid throw interceptions for example in practice and then have confidence that he'll excel in a game situation.

JL's not in the game for a reason and it's because of what he's shown the other 5 days of the week.

    IT'S GRAMMER TIME...

Can't touch this... Can't touch this...

Use "loose" to describe, my baggie pants don't ride,

Use "lose" when it's a sin, that the Tiger's don't win.

    Can't touch this...

    :)

He started as a freshman, and other than the picks did pretty damned well. Was on pace to set freshman records at LSU before he was injured. Some of his picks were due to lack of concentration by the receivers, and who knows if they were running the right routes in every pick. I can only recall 2 of those picks that were thrown and the guy had a clean run to the endzone. Someone could have made tackles. Some of them were careless and rushed throws, and some were just bad ones.

So, the guy is frazzled, the fans and media hates him, dogs him almost as worse as Jaime Howard, boos him every opportunity. He gets hurt and loses his job.

This was all after he was thrown into the fire because Perriloux was booted.

So Jefferson comes in and plays, has his moments, but still is no wizard in the passing game, I think alot of his early success was due to the fact that no one had any game film on him. 09 Lee comes in against Alabama, probably still frazzled because LSU fans and media alike pretty much hate the kid, rag on him constantly, dude was probably neverous as hell, that is one tough situation to be thrown into, not playing but a few snaps if any all season and then get thrown in against the number 2 team in the nation on the road. Almost a no win situation. So he comes back the week after and doesn't do very well. Our offensive line sucked and our tailbacks were all injured. He was probably still a mental mess.

Last week, he comes in for 1 series and holy balls, he gets a huge ovation, the crowd is going nuts in favor for him. Maybe, just maybe, the bench and that crowd being behind him, and some humility, was the spark he needed.

    Then again, who knows.

If Jarrett Lee is doing as well as they say he is in practice, then I think Miles is doing his TEAM (damn the fans) a disservice by not giving the other guy a shot to give this offense a spark. We don't have to be phenomonal, just good enough to sustain drives, play field position, and put some points on the board. To me, against Tennessee, a team who is struggling, this would be a perfect opportunity, before we start playing the big boys. If you remember correctly, even though Lee had a few picks vs. Florida in 08, he did move the ball against them, in the swamp, at night. As a matter of fact, I think he scored 7 times more points on that bad ass defense Florida had, on the road, than Jefferson did, at home.

He may not be the quick fix, but we will never know if he just sits with a headset on.

i can't help but think, does this say something about the inability of this coaching staff in developing a qb? if we can't field an average qb for 3 yrs in a row then it has to go deeper. we can't even seem to sign and keep new ones on our team.

last year, and year before, there were reports of how well jl looked in practice. and when he would come in a game, it would be like bambi in the headlights.

that said, i am ready to give the kid another chance to see if he has outgrown that and become more sure of himself in an actual game situation. for two reasons. one, jj looks horrible. if we are worried about pick sixes being thrown, jj is throwing wildly and its gotten to be six of one, half dozen of the other there. (pun intended.) and two, jl has stuck with this team through a lot of shyt given to him by the fans. if jj is that bad, which he is, i would really like to see jl have the chance to redeem himself and prove that he can overcome the last couple of years.

Well, Les is reported in the paper this morning has saying that Peterson has been practicing with the offense for several weeks now and that he "might get a few snaps" in this weeks game.

    That's "snaps", folks . . . not carries . . . not receptions.

I hear you, and I've heard this from many coaches, so it's probably the norm.

Of course, I haven't played in many decades, but we always had a few players who loafed in practice, but really stepped it up on game day and a couple that played well in practice but had anxiety issues in games. And I'm sure this complicates a coach's confidence in a player.
