That is what is going to end up happening with Jarrett Lee, we are going to be down 2 touchdowns or so against Florida or some other team, and Jefferson is going to suck, so Lee is going to get thrown to the wolves in a no win situation so Miles can have his "i told you so" moment.
Miles claims he doesn't read what people are saying about the team. He claims he doesn't watch what they say on tv or listen to the radio either. Does he really live in this bubble where there is no outside input. Is he that out of touch or does he know that the fans want lee to play. How could he not know. Is it he won't play lee because he's the coach and that's the bottom line and he will not cave to pressure as a matter of pride.
Yes. Start or at least give Lee some real chances. And yes, I was saying the same thing about Jefferson getting a chance in Oct of 2008.
This is just a hunch...but I bet he doesn't play him because he doesn't think he's better than JJ. Perhaps he even thinks he's worse. I still think he should not only play him, but START him against UT. If he sucks it up, that will be one quiet Tiger Stadium...even if JJ leads the team back. Because then THEY will be the ones with THEIR pride affected.
I hope he gets a chance to play. I don't think jl will play more than a series or two. It would be best to play them both every game until a true leader emerges. Make them compete on the field. But coach knows best. He better because his job may depend on it if we loose the big games because of poor play by jj
I hate to be so negative (negatiger), but I don't think a true leader is gonna emerge from these two. I think the lesser of two evils will "emerge".
Good call, Brett. That is exactly what I had been thinking. We always talk about a team playing as if not to lose, instead of just playing to win, and it appears that is just how Miles is coaching. As long as he can squeak by and put another W on the ledger, he will keep doing exactly what he is doing. However, when we come up against some of the other big boys in the conference, this strategy will FAIL !! Our defense is terrific, as are Special Teams, but that defense will wear down playing against the better teams in the SEC if we cannot move the ball consistently and give them some rest.
I said start Lee. I watched a lot of different teams play this weekend and the difference in ability between JJ and almost EVERY other QB I saw...no matter the school or opponent...was staggering. I simply cannot believe that a top-tier school has TWO QB's as bad as JJ, who wouldn't even start at Southern with the way he's playing. If Lee is as bad or worse, then perhaps it's time to reevaluate where we truly are in the pecking order. I, for one, can't accept that. Lee HAS to be better.
