It's not Lombardi's job to hire coaches. It's is the AD's job. Skip knows a whole hell of a lot more about coaches and about LSU than Lombardi does. I think Skip should make the hire quickly, we already need to be considering names. If not Skip, then Skips successor who hasn't been hired yet needs to make the hire next summer, but that would put us way behind on recruiting. Skip knows how to hire a coach. He's an LSU guy and he's not going anywhere. Skip will remain at LSU as a fundraiser and will be just as concerned as anyone that LSU gets a top coach.
Thanks for your contribution. It was much-needed. But anyway, to follow Red's post, if he does indeed get fired, I suspect it will be Skip making the decision which may or may not be good news depending on what you all think should happen. I see Skip being far more likely to get someone either in-staff or low-brow, whereas, I'd think a new AD would be more willing to open the pocket-book to get on the fan base's good-side.
It's Don's blog and he can have it his way. Who is holding a gun at your head to make you read him? Why not just create your own blog with a "spine"?
While that's all true, that's kinda the beauty of it all. You all have the freedom to disagree.. It has nothing to do with my own blog. I have the freedom to see the two-faces he presents. At practices and stuff, it's okay for him to claim he is a "journalist" and get all the same benefits we get, but then on the blog, he doesn't act like a "journalist" and post fair and balanced news. The LSU Athletic Department has long washed its hands of him, taking away his passes to all the events and such for the same reasons I listed above. Spineless may be too strong a word. I just think his blog is horrendously un-credible (if that's even a word). :grin:
I'm picturing Dandy having coffee with Charlie Mac and wondering if 25 years later a child will be born who will expose him for the phony that he is. At least get beyond Journalism 101 before you attempt to take down an icon.

I will just chaulk this up to drug induced naivety (is that a word?).:wave: When you started with hating on Don, you made it a personal beef and derailed your original intent and point.
Excuse me? Try 35 years ago. I cut my teeth doing news reports for KLFY TV when your Mom was pooping her diapers.
