This is profound and unfortunately a waste of time. Why try to reason with a gump. Even if he shares your sentiment, he cannot speak aloud for fear of retribution. In many ways, gumps are very much like the Taliban...

You've been here long enough ... and have been watching football long enough, to know the answer to that question. It's been this way since '92. You should be thankful LSU was considered one of the have's, I guess?
    Wait. What?

That's not the best way to setup a conference, is it?

Ahhh, I love it when people's answer to the question Why are we doing it this way, is, Well that's the way we've always done it. So lacking in vision....

I think I was pretty clear. Until this year's rescheduling stupidity, LSU fans have attached no additional emotions to the UF game beyond what a win or loss meant in the standings. If Bama and Auburn were both 4-7, you guys would still want to tear the hearts out of each other when the Iron Bowl came up. That's the definition of rivalry. There's never been any such emotion between LSU and Florida.

Honestly, if both teams are 4-7 going into that game I'm playing golf; or fishing. When it comes to rivalries, Auburn doesn't fit in my book. That's UT all the way.

What strikes me is since LSU doesn't have a traditional rivalry and roughly half of the SEC does, you're suggesting scheduling be changed? You say there's never been such emotion between LSU and UF. That's not true with Florida fans. And, when you were losing to Meyer and Spurriers group I saw a HELL OF A LOT of emotional ties here.

@mctiger I can identify with what you're saying in this sense—I don't know many Bama fans at all who consider LSU a rivalry game. There isn't enough history.

To have your "power programs" split between divisions isn't the best way to set up a conference? How would you feel if Bama's permanent opponent was one of the "have not's?"

Let's go to a nine game conference schedule. That'll balance things out nicely.

All of this reads, to me, as if a lot of LSU fans want an easier way to ATL so divisions need to be eliminated, or move teams around so the Tigers have an easier path.

I'd bet you money if we saw some of the teams in the east move west, and a team like UF has an easy path to ATL, there would be a lot of bitching.
