If it really gets to his head, we won't be able to wait for him to get past it. It's up to Les and the rest of the coaches to gauge his mindset and see if he has it mentally. If he has it mentally, let him work through whatever's going on. If he's breaking down mentally, we have to look elsewhere. There could come a time when we really need a kicker to be accurate.
This thread popped in my head for some reason. I'm guessing things done changed for some of y'all. By y'all, I mean those that think (as Pam Ward calls him) David Colt should be benched. :hihi:
u really want Jasper or Crutchfield lining up for a 45 yd FG with the game on the line against Auburn? Not me. Keep Colt kicking.
He is hard on himself. I watched him on the sideline after he missed his second field goal attempt against Florida and he was not a happy camper. Some of the player were going over to him and tell him to shake it off and he responded by shoving one of them away like a 2 year old. In that position there is no room for that type of behavior. If he isn't careful he is going to let his head get to him. I picture kicking alot like playing golf. It is a very mental position. He has got to learn that you are going to miss some and just forget about it. I felt for the kid, I wanted to go give him a hug. hee hee... If coach takes him out, it will be the end of his career. Coach miles never expects him to make 50 yarders anyway. He almost got it in there. They need to put him in at running back.:hihi:
It is kinda scary that you are analyzing the 2nd and 3rd string kickers. They need to concentrate more on the obvious, like playing Scott and RP more.
Do any of you remember in the late 80s a kicker named Juan? I think that was his name. That dude was the worst kicker LSU has ever had. He missed extra points on a regular basis. He was horrible.
