So, is he a Hall of Famer? Regular season record is solid, but not spectacular. Post Season record is simply amazing. 3 World Series rings (one WS co-MVP). One of the best "big game" pitchers I ever saw. Is that enough to get him into Cooperstown?
you may be right on this one. he ain't getting much love on the radio this morning. better than at least 15 guys (stopped counting when I got to 15) currently in the Hall of Fame. Including guys like Drysdale, Koufax, Dizzy dean, etc. that is one thing he sure as hell ain't lacking.
For someone with such a long career, it is meager (by HOF standards). Guys like Koufax had abbreviated stays in the majors but were so dominant that you couldn't keep them out of the HOF. As I said, it's not the win total alone that will keep him out. The sour taste the media has for him will keep him from overcoming his biggest obstacle (that win total).
oh I agree that the combo could well keep him out. Don't know if the media has a sour taste or not. The guy ALWAYS has something to say to them, and it almost ALWAYS makes headlines. He's a reporter's dream in that sense.
I hope he gets in but it wont be a slam dunk. His post season work is phenomenal and it will be the driving force if he gets in. I think he should make it.
I hope not. As awesome as Ricky's speech will be, Schilling's speech will at least four times as bad. He'll probably even fake throat cancer to make it more triumphant. His postseason numbers may get him in, but I hope not. I don't like discounting the other 90% of the season. OK, maybe I just don't like him.
