The Sporting News has placed Kelvin Sheppard on the 1st team pre-season All American team !!!! how in the world do they put Sheppard on and leave Peterson off of this team ???:rolleye33:
The only explanation that is plausible is that some of these publications make predictions based on heavily on previous stats. Sheppard has plenty of those but Peterson doesn't because they dont throw at him consistently. Pre-Season All American is like preseason polls, you still have to line up and play the game.
No disrespect to Sheppard, but I don't understand how you cannot have Peterson on that list as well. I'm happy for Kelvin Sheppard though. He should have a great season.
So if Peterson's receiver never catches a ball all season long but he doesn't have any interceptions to show for his great work, he won't be named All-American?
Probably not with the Sporting news, alot of folks mention production in player analysis, especially interceptions with corners. But people who matter see how much of a stud he is.
Peterson is a pre-season All-American in just about every list I've seen, so missing out in this one really doesn't mean all that much. There's like 125 pairs of CBs in FBS conferences, and only two get on the first team - eventually somebody is going to pick the wrong two dudes...
Good for him and good for us. Now opposing DC's will be thinking where do we throw the ball, LSU has a rediculous pass defense.
