Who will be running this offence Jefferson or Shep or a bit of both? I know it will be a battle for the starting spot so..... Who will win the starting spot?
I have seen enough of Jefferson to say without hesitation that he will be leading this team next season. Shepard will be all over the field, whether it be punt/kick returner, slot receiver, running back, wildcat QB, anything else we can get him into.
Agreed. I don't think it will be much of a battle. Like you said, I think we'll see Shep on the field in as many situations as Miles can get him in, but I think it's almost certain that Jefferson will be our starter.
After Shepards long pass to Debose, you could hear him on the sideline say "now he's gotta choose LSU". He was still trying to recruit him. Probably for naught given what others have posted about Debose now a UF lean, and we have already lost the other two of the trio
Shep was electrifying!!! The long bomb to Debose for the TD!!! The 15-run for the TD!!! Think what he could have done if he didn't have to share the QB rotation with two other QBs!
Compare Shep to Charlie Ward: Ward TD run up the middle against Miami http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDCgOgtTRCU Ward TD run to the right again Miami http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1VTnrl645E Ward TD pass against Florida http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZsrdVlXG9w
His running skills are undeniable in space. His passing and ability to read defenses and find the open man is still unknown. Because this is not a big-time college game there weren't a lot of replays or camera angles to show you a wide angle view of the field. This didn't allow us to see if anyone was actually open when Shep was hanging on to the ball when he dropped back to throw. He also had a good bit of pressure in the pocket which wasn't optimal.
That is another reason why it is hard to get a fair evaluation of any QB that plays in All-star games. Shep showed he could do all those things this season and in practice this week but it is a whole new thing once you step onto the field in college.
