...throwing the ball in the QB challenge at the Under Armour game. I don't know if he was goofing around, not sure what to do, or what, but he definately wasn't sharp. He'll be a phenomenal player, regardless of his position. He listed his best ability as his leadership qualities. Pretty impressive. :tigereye:
He will need to be coached up at the next level and he will be. His down field throwing is lacking, but his mechanics overall are solid. So that's a plus. Screw it, he'll be running all over the field making DCs crap their pants. There, I said it.
Not to degrade the topic at all, but I don't care much for how he does in the skills competition. Matt Barkley was said to have performed the best after struggling all year in real games, so it doesn't seem to best represent in-game performance. In reports, it was said that Shepard was performing great in practice and drills, so that's good enough for me.
I guess throwing at moving golf carts and through tires doesnt forecast his ability to grow. I personally have never seen him play except on Youtube so I am not judge either but people who have says he is could be the next vince young. People who know more then me. I would judge the kid yet on his ability to jump through tires and throw a ball at a circle.
Didn't J. Lee excel at these skill competitions also.. It's not all it's cracked up to be. He's got the intangibles and a tremendous upside. You can develop arm strength and mechanics (his are fairly good from what I read..) but he brings more to the table than just athletic ability.
