this was suppose to happen earlier this year but didnt this one year move still wont keep Lebron in Cleveland in 2010
I never thought shaq would work in Phoenix but I could see it working in Cleveland. They don't play as uptempo as Phoenix did. Plus, can you imagine, Shaq and Lebron versus Kobe in the NBA Finals. This needs to happen.
Bron needs shooters at all positions to unclog that lane for him to drive and score, or drive and kick. He doesn't need a 350 lb anchor who is half what he used to be, but still will demand 20 shots a game, clogging the lane for him, just like he did for Steve Nash.
shaq is the only player that could make that offense more inefficient and slower. they need mooovvveeeeeement.
And he's gonna hit 61% of those 20 shots which was the BEST shooting percentage in the NBA this past season. Cleveland has shooters, if anything, they need shooters who can create their own shot when LeBron isn't getting his. Shaq is only gonna draw attention to the paint and give the shooters more open shots anyways. Why add more shooters when you can just have good ones you have taking better shots that they will hit? Sure, he may be half of what he used to be but he used to to be the most dominant center of this generation. Still not bad. He will still put up big numbers if he no one can guard him, and that only means good things for Lebron and Cleveland...
Ilgauskas = 13 pts 7.5 boards per game (already on roster) Shaq = 18 pts and 8 boards (not on roster, would cost draft picks and players + picking up his $20M salary) Not to mention, that 18 and 8 was shaq's best in years. Can he replicate that? A lot of if's for Cleveland. The Suns are trying to sell-high on Shaq.
the trade is only gonna cost the cavs wallace and pavlavich(sp) the suns are trying to cut salary here and it is already rumored that they will but out both players. so it aint like the cavs would be giving up much. there is one trade that is rumored to be in the works that i think will cost the alot and that is bringing in Deng and Hinrich from the bulls.
