BINGO!!!! That's what I have been thinking for a couple of weeks now, he plays more reckless and out of control and needs to be closer to the line of scrimage....just dont think he has the size for that.

Harry Coleman made for a pretty good LB in Chavis's defense. I'm all for more speed at LB.

Reckless and out of conrol has been our linebackers problem. They are too frequently on bad angles and out of position.

I think he hits harder than guys weighing 25-30 pounds more and his speed is far superior than most prototypical LBs. He would be fine at the position if he could learn the position and be committed to it. The two biggest problem I see in Loston is that he doesn't recognize or ignores his role in this defense to try to be the next great playmaker by playing beyond his limits. Having him as the last line of defense isn't comforting to me.

Well, for what it's worth, here's what I would do. Move Collins back to safety. Drop Martin to backup. Collins can play, but CB is just not his position. Put Collins CB position up for grabs, prolly between R. Robinson, Tre White and Dwayne Thomas. I'd put money on Robinson in that battle. No wholesale shakeup. Now on to linebacker...

It's time for Chavis to quit fartin' around with D.J. Welter and Lamar Louis. Move Lamin Barrow to that middle spot in the 4-3 with Kwon Alexander and Deion Jones on either side. Lamin Barrow, Kwon Alexander and Micah Eugene nickel in the 4-2-5. It never made sense to me to put your best player over to one side of the field. Put Barrow in the MIDDLE!!!

OK, if you don't like that, what would you do, and why?

I don't have a problem with it. The linebacker shakeup is what I'm looking forward to most. The newbies are probably ready physically, but they may not be ready mentally. They will come, and I believe they will come this year.

For a guy who's a linebacker guru (Chief), I can't help but believe there is a reason Barrow has not been moved to the middle. MLB is a mental position as well. Maybe Barrow is good at reacting to the ball, but not so good at being proactive to pre-snap stuff? There has to be a reason he's not manning the middle.

Perhaps he is not good at making the defensive calls, usually the middle linebackers job.
