I wonder if the people that voted "good riddance" are actually LSU fans? What is the logic? Who would we get to take his place? Etc etc...
No, don't want Les to go BUT....... I get mad as hell at my wife and kids but love them unconditionally. I sometimes want to knock hell out of them, and Les for that matter, but it's like an old friend told me once: You don't get mad at or give a damn about your enemies. You get mad at the ones you care about. Further, your enemies will either lie to you or tell you what you want to hear; your friends will tell you the truth in order to help you. So, yep, I like Miles. Think he is a good, decent, moral man. I also would like to take him out behind the wood shed from time to time and knock some sense into him.
What happened to the guy who went for it on 4th down five times in one game? How did he morph from a crazy, wild guy into an ultraconservative ol fart in the BCG? Isn't it overwhelmingly obvious it would have been better to burn out in a blaze of glory with all guns blazing, than just fade away without a whimper? Never again. Don't forget that in Les' first two seasons he was super conservative. Think about the Tennessee game in 05 and the Auburn game in 06. Hell, even in the craziness that was 2007 he got pretty conservative at points, that made the "Mad Hatter" moments necessary. Now, don't get me wrong. I voted that I would care if he left. His record is very impressive and I don't want him to leave. He showed improvement over the last year or two. However, he took a step back in the BCS title game. I am back to being afraid that he will cost us a game or two. Call it "catastrophe syndrome", "chicken little", or whatever else. That's just how I see it.
I would not want Les to leave....but if he could not accept criticism when it is due.....and it was due for this championship game.....then I would say good ridance. I want someone who is accountable, when you mess up man up and say it was my fault and I WILL fix it.
Haven't read this entire thread so I hope this hasn't been said. We have awfully short memories. How soon we forget the Hallman years when we would have given everything for a shot at the Sugar Bowl. Miles has the best record EVER during his tenure at LSU. We have every right to critisize what happened on the 9th. It was very disappointing and has everyone wanting answers. But he still has done more than any previous LSU coach. How soon we forget the season after Katrina? How Les guided this program through the aftermath of a storm that had major impact on a number of players on that team. We CAN'T talk about getting rid of a quality coach, who has made mistakes (what coach hasn't), but will continue to bring in quality recruits and fill his staff with good coaches. Les has my vote. Besides who could do a better job among the available candidates out there?
If Les left....who else would want to coach at a place where they harass you out the door for going undefeated, but losing the national championship game?
I THINK THAT I WOULD THROW A PARTY IF LES WERE TO LEAVE! I would be absolutely ecstatic if Les Miles were to leave. Also, before the bashing starts, I know that his departure would not immediately solve the problems on offense. On the contrary, it would place LSU in quite tough spot for a year or so due to the uncertainty. We would more than likely lose a few recruits also. Even taking all that into account, we would weather the storm and be much better off with Miles gone. The athletic director would have to make a smart hire. Although, he couldn't choose anyone that would be more incompetent than Les Miles. I'd throw a party if he were to leave. To all of you who think that Les will actually change the offense, you're purely delusional. It will not happen. His stubbornness and arrogance is without bounds.
