Who out there would be happy to see Miles go? After all of these negative posts about him, I wonder...what would some of you do if College Footballs' COACH OF THE YEAR said "to heck with it"...and went somewhere that would be happy to have him? I know we all have the right to our opinions and the right to criticize him, I am not saying that we don't. But if he was to get wind of all the negative comments and just said "DEUCES"...how many of us would actually care.
I would. I'm bummed now and will be a little bit longer but I'm not blind to what all Les brings to the table. Les is still my guy but he sure did fail in epic fashion on the 9th
Mad at him for the game Monday? Sure I was. But the good he's done for this program outweighs the bad by far in my opinion. One game, even the BCSNCG, getting screwed up isn't enough to warrant running him off as far as I'm concerned. We don't know for sure we would have won with any other QB, though admittedly it would have been nice to at least try.
Les had to grow on me. I hated him at first. I missed Saban. Now I watch Saban go ape crazy and I watch "Cool Hand Les" never seem to get rattled and how he handles his players and I am changing the way I view coaches. I don't think you have to scream in a kids face on national TV to get him to perform anymore. I think Les is the new age coach and I think he will grow stronger and the "screamers" will grow weaker with the new generation of young men that are up and coming. As an old school knucklehead that has done my share of hollering in faces....I can't believe I am saying this...but we adapt or we die...and Miles...I believe...is the future of coaching. Class act.
I would hate to see Les go over this. His good outweighs the bad. He needs to hire an OC and give him 100% control of the Offense, as he has done with Chavis on Defense. I think offering a sincere me aculpa would help, but the biggest concern I have is how he handles this with the players. Do the players think they had a bad game plan, or do they think they just did not execute it well and are partially responsible for laying an egg? I do not know if "motivation" is Les' strong suite? I think how he motivates and overcomes this during the spring will tell what type of comittment he has to the players and what kid of comittment the players have to him and LSU. Starting with a fresh OC would be a start. I think our existing Offense with a CAPABALE QB is going to make night and day differences in our Offense. I would hate to see Miles go. Many have him in the top 5 in coaching. Unless you can persuade #1-4 to come coach at LSU, how do you replace him?
I'd care. Ditto what everyone else has said. I mean .. common .. we are the only team in the FBS with a grazing coach.
