It would take another week to 'Bring Back the Magic', but LSU put up a pretty good fight for 3 1/2 quarters before losing 33-17. 2000: the debut of the Nick Saban era started in Baton Rouge with a 58-0 beatdown of Western Carolina. (how strange was it that his first game at Alabama was against Western Carolina ? :insane 'Course it was the 14th and not the 2nd, but a quarter of a century ago LSU opened the 1985 season vs North Carolina and won 23-13.
