Thats cool to see. GO Tigers.... But really, don't you think they have more important things to do instead of honoring sports teams? I know that borders on being moved to the politics forum so i won't go further.
Thank you, Senators Vitter and Landrieu for this resolution. Please join all of us in the effort to give LSU as much money from the state treasury as possible.
Basically, the two Louisiana Senators had a secretary draft the resolution, they mentioned it briefly before Congress, nobody said nay, and it was a done deal. Didn't waste more than a few seconds of the Senate's time. It was no different that how President Bush called Les Miles to honor him on LSU's victory, and how President Bush will have the LSU team visit the White House for an honorary dinner. What will be nice is when the Senate of the United States of America has one of their secretaries put together a nice, official document from the United States Senate that will be sent to LSU for us to put in a beautiful frame and hang up with all our other accolades from this season.
Well, even the President of the US does it. Put differences aside my azz, they're always counting votes. To go against that would be political suicide.
Now, imagine this: What if, instead of the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, it was the U.S. Senate who voted on who the national champion of college football would be. Could you imagine that?
That would be the dumbest thing ever since, ummmm, congresional hearings regarding steroid use by baseball players.
That's a good point. I know zero about the whole doping situation with MLB players, so I can't see how that was significant of an issue enough for serious Congressional involvement. I would have assumed that they'd have left that to MLB officials to sort out. As a side note, before President Bush became the governor of Texas, he did manage a MLB team.
yeah i know, I am making more out of it than i should. They make some poor intern make the draft and then they just basically rubber stamp it on the floor. I agree that its a nice thing. Its just another example of politicians screwing around and not doing what they need to be doing. I wonder how many Senators were actually on the floor when that was introduced.
