According to Verge Ausberry, who does the scheduling for LSU, there are only six self-sustaining athletics programs in the Football Bowl Subdivision of college football. LSU is of course one of those teams. Do any of you know the other five? For those of you who don't understand what is meant by self-sustaining... It means that no state tax dollars or student fees are used to fund the entire athletics program. All money is generated by the athletic department. Whether it be from ticket revenue or donations, etc. Ausberry also had one more informational tidbit. He said that his counterparts at aTm have flat out said over and over that they will play us any time in any sport just not football. Those aggies sure do hold a grudge for a long time.... He was a guest on "Jordy & The Other Guy" this morning, radio here in BR.
i have no idea. but that won't stop me from guessing: florida, georgia, tennessee, florida state, oklahoma.
ok now i actually cheated and googled it, and i know at least 2 of my answers are wrong. probably all five are. :bncry: maybe i'll get some nice parting gifts.
i would be surprised if ou is on the list. but one of my guesses (havent googled yet this morning) would be texas. rather than go away empty handed, 327, would you like to exchange your guess for whats behind door #3?
Are you guessing or is that actually the other five? If I were guessing, then I would say Florida, Texas, USC, Ohio State, Michigan.
just guessing....biggest reason for the Florida schools being my guesses is that there are no state taxes in Florida....dunno
Notre Dame has got to be in there. They have they're own national TV contract for football games for goodness sakes.
Puts us at a disadvantage when it comes to raising funds, when other SEC schools get money from other parts of the university, right?
