I'd love to see Bama win it all. The idea of three different national champions in a row from the SEC is appealing to me. But Florida is stronger. Tebow is not going to toss four interceptions and he won't throw touchdowns for Bama.
Just like for Florida/UGA, I see Florida BIG in this one. I would like to see a Florida/Texas Tech BCSNCG; that could be really interesting and a fun game to watch.
Alabama reminds me of the 2006 Arkansas team. That team lost their opener to USC then proceeded to win 10 in a row. As their fans began dreaming of a BCS title, they lost to LSU, then in the SEC Championship game, and then their bowl game. Alabama survived against LSU (thanks to our "situation") but could easily lose to Florida and a bowl game. Auburn probably won't be a challenge...but you never know.
I'm changing my stance on the Bama / Florida game. I think the key to stopping Florida's offense is to have a fast, good-tackling LB corps. I think Bama has that en masse. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in it late, because you can't out-finesse that Bama defense very easily, as we've seen. IMO, Florida doesn't have the bruisers to play smash-mouth against that D. That's going to make a difference.
I like your reasoning on this... I think (and HOPE) that LSU is the most physical team on BAMA's schedule. We match up well against each other... strength vs strength... We match up better against a 'finesse' team... see UGA.
Offensively, yes. Defensively...we seem to lack speed at LB and physicality up front. It's weird, I know...
You don't want any part of TT or OU. The scoreboard will look like a pinball machine from their offenses.
Of course I want us to take it all the way but I think it is FANTASTIC that we have TWO teams in our conference fighting for a spot in the NC. No matter what, I want that trophy to stay in the SEC. If we win AWESOME FOR US. If Bama wins and wins the NC, it will be the only time in history a conference has won three NCs in a row by THREE DIFFERENT TEAMS.
Maybe not. But it's possible to force different TO's such as the OM game. Florida hadn't had a TO all year and then fumbled the ball 5 times, losing possession 3 times. Tebow was also sacked 3 times for 27 yards. I'm not saying that Florida isn't good or that we're so much better than them. Attack Tiger made a good point. We have very fast but physical LB's that swarm the ball and make plays. Chances are you wont see much of Cody against UF because they like to run all over the field with quick little scatbacks. We may not win, but I'm not quick to label Florida world killers. Alabama is physical. The most physical team in the SEC and probably the country. It will be interesting to see how Florida can handle it. On a side note, it's funny how in almost every thread you see a post that says something like this: If our QB didn't give the game away, we would have won...Newsflash guys, that must be the only option you have. You keep blaming RP but what if he was injured in the first game? Injuries are a part of the game. Players that cant keep their head on straight is a part of the game. At least that is somewhat similar to what Bama fans heard when Prothro went down and the prior year--our whole entire backfield. Is it entirely Lee's fault? Was he ready? If not, who does that fall on? IF Alabama wouldn't have kicked a low field goal, it wouldn't have been blocked and therefor no INT in OT. Its funny how you can talk about the if's now that you're losing some games....but you didn't want to hear about those if's from other schools when you were winning. If Jefferson is the savior, why isn't he playing???
