From our Hawkeye forum news: "The Big Ten will return to the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl for the first time in nearly two decades, giving the conference a third Florida postseason game to conclude the 2010 through 2013 seasons. Matching teams from the Big Ten and SEC, the Gator Bowl will be held on New Year's Day at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla." Do any of you have the same comfirmation? I knew we had picked up the Gator Bowl, just trying to confirm it actually is against the SEC, not the ACC. The Outback and CapOne tie-ins are still intact.
googled this up, so I guess it's true... Gator Bowl to match SEC vs Big Ten; more bowl shakeups ensue : Fanblogs College Football Blog Personally, I don't like it because the Gator, Outback and CapOne all overlap for TV time. I like our conference match-ups a tad more spread out from a viewing standpoint. The Big Ten now loses any ACC match-up (were matched with them in the Champs) and we lose the Alamo Bowl (now PAC 10 and Big 12), which was always a fun place to go for a game. Obviously, this is about money... having fan bases that can fill the stands... I get that part... but overall, I think even you guys would like to see one SEC-PAC 10 game, for example, than three overlapping games with the same conference. Plus, we usually cap off New Year's Day with the Rose Bowl.... that makes for one long viewing day, for sure. Thoughts?
