Perhaps one of my fellow DFW LSU alums can find the article in the FWST telegram back in Oct or so that Jennifer Floyd Engle wrote where she was completely mystified by all the claims of the SEC being the premier conf in the country year after year but ESPECIALLY this year when the Big 12 South had the teams they had. She claimed as many other Big 12 pundits seemed to do before the game that the SEC has not seen any offenses like the Big 12 South has to offer. I waited until the game was over and wrote her a request for a possible clarification to her story. Does it really matter what any other offense is played by any other school in the country if they don't play defense like the SEC???:geaux: From:<IMG id=P___439935821 style="DISPLAY: none" webimdisplayStyle="inline"> Floyd, Jennifer () Sent:Thu 1/08/09 11:07 PM .ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P{padding:0px;}.ExternalClass body.EC_hmmessage{font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} Thanks for reading and taking the time to email. [Wow, did LSU play tonight? I must have missed it. As for Florida, they won. They were better but to argue the Big 12 is not good based on this is silly. The wrong Big 12 team was playing in the game anyway. It should have been Texas. And considering what Utah did to Bama, let's not do too much SEC bragging. That was a non-BCS school kicking their butt. All the best, Jen FWST To: Floyd, Jennifer Subject: SEC Defense.............Anything to Add??? Ms. Engel, I seem to remember an article you wrote earlier in the season about the SEC and their defensive style of football vs Big 12 and their blitzkrieg offenses. You seemed completely confused by all the claims of the SEC as the toughest conf. in the country. I couldn't find your article amongst your column's but as I remember you questioned how the SEC could possibly make the claims they do about their brand of football with the Big 12 South in particular boasting such huge offensive numbers. I'm quite sure you watched the Florida/Oklahoma game as well as Ole Miss and TT. I am wondering, are their any questions now??? I'm also quite sure you are hoping that the SEC alums that happen to be FWST readers in this area either never saw your article or have forgotten it. I'm sure there is NO CHANCE you will offer " a correction" to your story. Just think, if Texas wouldn't have had 16 seconds to overcome a VERY AVERAGE Ohio State team that was completely destroyed in successive years by Florida and LSU the Big 12 South would be................oh I'm sure you know. Maybe my fellow LSU alum, GL will remember the article and see what you think now. Thanks again for the coverage. Lastly, you think Oklahoma will EVER win another BCS game??? Now that would be a story...........the jinx lives on.
dude she calls herself "the little ball of hate" and that is no lie. she is a hate journalist who is rarely right, who just talks smack to get ratings. she has absolutely no credibility. texas the team that barely beat ohio state if not for a brain damaged coach in tressell. an ohio state team that got smashed 2 years in a row by SEC teams, and that team that played Texas was for the most part the same team we thrashed a year ago. DO NOT LISTEN TO JENN ENGLE. She is worthless.
I completely agree with your comments about her but that article so pissed me off when I read it I decided to let things play out and before the Gatorade was done dripping off of Meyer my email was on the way. You can see her petty little ref to "Did LSU play tonight?" I did remind her that Gil LeBreton probably will remind her about that article.:geaux:
get our boy Cowlishaw from the Dallas Morning News (if he still writes for them) to break her off a little chunk. i would have been pissed if i had read that too, i just never read the sports page in the FWST when i lived in the Mid Cities area because it was garbage. I first heard of Engle while listening to that drunken blithering idiot randy galloway who cracks me up, and the first time i heard her, i couldnt stand her.
Well, I hate to bust it out, but I have to. What a farking dingbat! I can see why the Texans would claim that they are/were better than OU, but that comes straight from the book of irrelevancy, so whatever. Texas was very fortunate to win that game against tOSU. Utah should be ranked ahead of them.
I just a reply from her again this AM telling me to read the FWST tomorrow, HOWEVER she said I would not like what she has to say. You guys need to drop a Rockeye CBU on her desk with emails. Still looking for her exact article claiming Big 12 Superiority over SEC.:geaux:
"It should have been Texas", that pretty much excludes her from any conversation involving logic or intelligence. Douchebaggery is afoot. Her initial argument was for Big12 Vs. SEC yet she quickly shifts to LSU and Bama loosing to Utah to prove she has no relevancy.
Kevin Sherrington is the only newspaper journalist in the DFW area who has any sort of national, logical perspective. The rest pretty much just pander to the big 12. As far as 'the little ball of hate', I agree with LaSalleAve, she is never right about anything. Keeps her job by stirring things up in the mode of Skip Bayless. Logic and facts do not matter to her.
We should thank her because as long as the idiots in the big 12 think they are the best they will not make the changes that are required for them to be better than the SEC.
