SEC Title Game and Ryan Perriloux= Respect?

Just to play devil's advocate - would you ignore what he's done off the field if he were to come into the SECCG and play terribly? Or would you just dismiss it as not having enough playing time this year?

Personally, I was ecstatic when we signed RP. His immature behavior and propensity to get into trouble has me less than excited about him now. If he were to come out Saturday and play the game I've always expected him to play, my excitement will grow. But to earn my respect, he'll have to get his act together off the field and become the player and leader we all thought and hoped we were getting when he signed with LSU.

Besides using a fake ID to enter a casino and being on the scene of a bar fight, what other trouble has R.P. been involved in while at LSU?

 

well then you have a real situation on your hands at that point if he plays bad. Because he is there first to be a student and with his problems and poor playing, where would that leave his status with LSU?

I agree with you, but be careful with these kind of comments...They could call you a hater or that you have a problem with people of that particular hue.

Everyone pretty much knows my position....I love me some RP. I think if he stays out of trouble and grows up a bit, he is going to rock LSU in the future.

The counterfeiting issue before the season began was another time RP's name was involved - and that's the concern: where there's smoke, there's RP. With all the eyes watching you these days as an NCAA athlete, especially in college football, you need to be smarter than he's been.

He'll earn the admiration and respect he deserves by his overall performance on and off the field. He hasn't had a chance to do one because he hasn't put much effort into the other. If he'll wise up and stay away from where the trouble is, he'll get the chance to prove himself to us all, and I'll be there cheering him on as I would any other Tiger player.

I have great respect for Matt Flynn as a leader and for his gutsy play this year. In tough situations he seems to shine. Never looks rattled, even if it's a critical play.

But - I'm wondering what our offense will look like next year (if not in the next two games) with RP.

I'd like to see that wild hog type thing with RP, Trindon and Keiland in the backfield. I'm not sure the wishbone would be dead with those players running it. Call it the spread or whatever name you choose, an option based offense would be scary with them in the backfield. Even if it was just a package kind of thing you'd see a couple of series each game.

I haven't seen enough of RP to like or dislike his play. But there were a few flashes of brilliance in the early part of the year. ldskule:

 

Bottom line to me is this: LSU still has a lot to play for and two wins to close the season means a lot to our team as well as our program in general, not to mention a end of the season top 3-4 ranking and the possibility of still swaying some recruits. I think if Flynn IS hurt and can not throw the ball well, then I think it is a no brainer: don't hesitate to put in Perriloux. He can play and he can win against UT. If Flynn is better by the Sugar, Flynn starts and splits time with Perriloux. It is simple to me, we do what we need to do to win. I take my chances with a 100% healthy than with an 80% healthy Flynn any day of the week.
