Since everybody else was playing chumps, I choose not to look too harshly upon our stats. I expect things to even out after Vandy and other people start playing ranked opponents.
Here's the total offense/total defense numbers our opponents this season put up in their 1st game, ranked nationally. Interesting to see that the offenses of Florida and West Virginia got off to such a slow start. But yeah, LSU is the only one has got off to a slow start on both offense and defense. Total Offense #3 Auburn (vs Arkansas St.) #4 Alabama (San Jose St.) #6 Mississippi St. (vs Memphis) #14 Tennessee (vs Tenn-Martin) #20 Arkansas (vs Tennessee Tech) #29 Mississippi (vs Jacksonville St.) #40 North Carolina (vs LSU) #42 Vanderbilt (vs Northwestern) #59 West Virginia (vs Coastal Carolina) #86 LSU (vs UNC) #102 Florida (vs Miami Ohio) Total Defense #6 Tennessee (vs Tenn-Martin) #13 Alabama (vs San Jose St.) #15 West Virginia (vs Coastal Carolina) #16 Arkansas (vs Tennessee Tech) #22 Florida (vs Miami Ohio) #29 Mississippi St. (vs Memphis) #51 North Carolina (vs LSU) #64 Mississippi (vs Jacksonville St.) #67 Vanderbilt (vs Northwestern) #68 Auburn (vs Arkansas St.) #91 LSU (vs UNC)
Bright side, 5 fumbles 1 Int and Bad holding calls and LSU's O is up from last year!!!!! I am willing to bet week 1 of last year our D was about the same after giving up 450 to Washington.
Well, JJ threw one INT and we fumbled 4 times (including Murphy once and Ridley twice), but yeah that was pretty horrible. Rare to see a team win a game when they cough up 5 turnovers. 478 to Washington. We also gave up 400+ to Alabama (452) and Ole Miss (426)... and 350+ to Arkansas (375) and Miss State (374). But yeah, we finished #11 in scoring D and #26 in total D.
