Week one stats are always skewed of course, but some are interesting. Most teams feasted on cupcake opponents and it shows that LSU faced a BCS conference opponent. We can only improve. Total Offense = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #11 Scoring Offense = Georgia #1 . . . LSU # 10 Passing Offense = State #1 . . . LSU #11 Rushing Offense = Auburn #1 . . . LSU #11 Total Defense = Georgia #1 . . . LSU #12 Scoring Defense = Tennessee #1 . . . LSU # 10 Passing Defense = Alabama #1 . . . LSU #12 Rushing Defense = Florida #1 . . . LSU #3 Punt Returns = LSU #1 Kick Returns = Georgia #1 . . . LSU #3 Punt defense = Tennessee #1 . . . LSU N/A Kick defense = TEnnessee #1 . . . LSU #4 Fumbles Lost = Kentucky #1 . . . LSU #12 Fumbles recovered = LSU #1 Sacks = LSU #1 Tackles for Loss = LSU #1 Turnover margin = LSU #9 Interesting: 1. We lead the conference in both fumbles lost and fumbles recovered. 2. We lead the conference in both sacks and tackles behind the line. 3. We are dead last in pass defense.
Not too mention that the BADA$$ return game, didnt give our offense a whole lot of time with the ball and what was our average starting field position.....the 50? Its hard to put up a lot of yards against a better defense than any other SEC team faced, especially when you start at mid field damn near every series too. Pass defense may be be due to a 97 yd td where Taylor obviously missed his assignment
Ya think if we had played w. kentucky, miami oh. jacksonville st. or arky st. we would have better stats? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yes
Miami of Ohio was one of the WORST teams in the country last year. and the year before that. we didn't get UNCs studs, but lets be realistic about this. their backups are still BCS conference athletes.
thats crap....even with thier back ups...they are a top 25. they have the 2 best LBs in the country..the QB has 32 starts under his belt...the entire starting oline was intact...
