Red, I agree that they are in essence individual responsibility penalties, but to get to #79th in the Nation does not happen over night. Lack of team discipline is a coaching problem. Please don't think that I am just bagging on Les. I actually like Les alot. I just have a problem with the lack of team control. I was encouraged to see Les get in PP's face over the celebration penalty. I want to see more of the emotion from Les.
Do you really believe Miles doesn't look at any stats? I'm sure he's looked at more stats than any of us and knows right where LSU ranks. See and fixing however, are two different things. The question isn't whether Miles SEES it. It's if he can do anything to improve it.
Fify. Have no doubt, Miles is the ONLY person that can do anything about it. It's WILL he...and when?
That's a tad harsh. At least give Miles credit for the defense and special teams...and the record. One thing that's clear is that Crowton has no idea what to do when stuck with no talent at QB.
I am sure he sees it. Yet we continue to do the same thing over and over and over again. I am not just singling out Miles. The entire Offensive staff seems to think that 2 years of piss poor offensive output is fine. This offense did not work overall last year, and so far it is not working very well this year. Absolutely. I think he made a hell of a choice on D. I love the passion on the D.
I was talking about Offense and just assumed since our special teams and defense kick so much ass, that it was understood. Crowton or Miles, they're both to blame. LSU has top talent across the board and there is no way in hell they should be performing the way they do over the past few years. The coaches aren't getting the job done on offense. They certainly aren't doing all they could do to help Jefferson get better or help him at all. Where is the tight end? Where are the quick screens, curls and TE releases? These are classic plays that are used to help a struggling QB get into rhythm and build confidence. Nothing. JL has looked bad in the past but he's also shown he can put points on the board, even with the pick 6s. These guys grow every year and JL has not been given a chance to show what he can do THIS year despite the fact that JJ has regressed through 4 games. edit. Actually, I looked back and saw that I mentioned offense. It wasn't harsh at all. The offensive coaching has been putrid for a while now and unacceptable for the level of talent they have to work with and their pay grade.
Too much focus is being put on symptom instead of the problem. Basically everyone is running around in panic mode. The time for panic mode was at the end of last year. LSU can start moving in the right direction without throwing the QBs into the fire pit. LSU can still win games and improve. I don't think throwing QB after QB with Crowton is going to do much. Yes, Lee deserves a chance, but this is not much of a chance with Crowton up in the booth. I wish I had good choices to show everyone, to me the team either starts moving in the right direction now (with short-term pain) or you wait till after the end of the season.
Even with the limited talent at QB, they should still be doing better. They aren't helping him out at all. And recruiting a capable QB is part of their job too. In fact, if anything proves the QB is THE most important player on the team, this is it. We have a Ferrari and Les forgot to buy sparkplugs and is drunk behind the wheel.
