MSU shot poorly much of the game as well. Both teams played good, aggressive defense. The foul disparity is probably 20% injustice and 80% circumstance. LSU was behind, frustrated, and playing like hell to turn the game around. They were also playing a LOT wilder than I've seen them play all year. Basically, LSU played like crap. The refs didn't shoot 31%. LSU did that. And all this calling everyone else an idiot stuff - who let the TigerDroppings crowd in? Somebody lock that door again, please. :rolleye33:
Tiger first of all noone is your son you are a 10 year old grow up. Secondly we are taking the loss like a man and stating FACTS learn them little boy. Also while your at it stop acting like a 2 year old that has just gotten punished. Your pathetic attempt at calling names makes you look bad little boy.
Sourdoughman well said and so correct. Dont bother with him though he has no clue what he is talking about and probably has never watched a basketball game in his 10 years of a life. You are right we did not play like we should have but when you have offication like that you cant. Keep up the good work.
This team has overachieved for much of the season and provided a lot of thrills along the way. The performance against MSU was disappointing to say the least, but I think surviving Kentucky's best effort was enough of a boost to help get us ready for the NCAA tournament. Hopefully we get a good draw for game 1, and then find a way to get to the final 16. No matter what happens this season has exceeded my expectations, and for me anything else will be a nice bonus. :geaux:
When the team is only shooting 31% there is only one area to blame, the team. Which is actually the bigger concern than the loss. The loss just means they get some rest going into the NCAA's, the 31% shooting has been the theme over the last 4 games. We have been shooting in the mid 30% range over that span and have gone 1-3. I don't think that we can blame the refs for all 3 of those losses when we are shooting so poorly. If we don't get back to the way we have been playing all season this will be a very short NCAA party for us. Also, not the end of the world, because I am just happy that we are back in the thing. I would just really like to see our seniors go out with a bang, and a nice run to the Sweet 16 would be the perfect ending for their LSU career. Final Four would be better, but I am realistic.
Excellent analysis Legacy Tiger. :thumb: The Tigers and Coach Johnson better get the ship righted or we're 1 & done in the tournament.
It is certainly very upsetting that LSU only shot 31%, but MSU only shot 33% as well. Had LSU got a few calls on missed shots, then they could have shot equal percentage easily. LSU out-rebounded MSU by 1, and had just one more turnover. Ironically, all year, Trent Johnson has pretty much lived by that if you play defense, the offense will come to you. The last two games they have played defense, but their offense never really exploded like it had all year. The Kentucky game gave me a lot more confidence in this team for the NCAAT, but now the seeding is starting to worry me.
Maybe its just me being a Tiger Fan & I agree that MS flat out kicked our butt - BUT- I watched real close & I sure thought Varnado walked (shuffled his feet) almost every time he was getting complimented for those great moves under the basket. Made a difference on defense for sure... Cris Johnston was falling all over the floor & only scored 2 points..
Some of you might want to look at the stats next time before you say that MSU kicked our butts or we played terrible in this game. I think these stats further make my point more than anything else. FG 3pt FT OR Reb Ast Stl Blk To PF MSU 33% 18% 68% 12 42 11 3 9 6 26 LSU 31% 25% 69% 16 44 12 2 8 6 13 The last one tells the story of this game. LSU had 13 more personal fouls than MSU, that is the only thing that sticks out on the stat sheet. Anybody want to rephrase their comments? Keep in mind MSU was fighting for their lives, this was a playoff game and usually playoff games are won by defense not offense. There was no way LSU or MSU was going to shoot 50% and win a pretty game. Anyone who compared this team to Brady's should apologize, no way this team played this well last year under Brady! If I told you that Chris Johnson wouldn't play in this game would you think we had a chance against MSU? That is basically the story of the game. I tend to go with those in normal circumstances when good teams overcome bad calls but this game is an exception to that rule! Look at the number of free throws made alone in this game also, there is the difference of who won and lost this game. I have tried to get these numbers to line up but it doesn't work? Frustrating, check it out for yourselves. Msu was slightly better than us in fg percentage by 2 percentage points, 1 more steal and block and 13 fouls better. We were better in every other category including 3 point percentage. http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=290730099
