I think WVU's loss opened the door for us, then the Hawaii result got us in. I think Izzy had that figured out.
In the WVU game Pat White injured his thumb jamming it into the back of his offensive lineman trying to run around end. It hampered him the rest of the game. Missouri lost to Oklahoma in their championship game as we were playing Tennessee. It was the only time I ever rooted for Bob StoopsSoLow. We also jumped VTech since we had clubbed them earlier that season. And I want to say the number 5 team was idle and we jumped them too. From 7 to 2 in one weekend. Wow.
Yes it did. SOS was a significant enough part of the process that it mattered. I remember watching that game until past 1 in the morning, thinking to myself that this was going to be the difference between us and USC ending up #2.
If anybody wants to relive or see it for the first time. http://www.tigerfan.com/threads/the...-in-the-battle-for-2nd-place-in-the-bcs.7602/ Here is the game that got the ball rolling on that fateful first Saturday in December (check out the title of the article): Reyes, Syracuse pound Irish, help LSU http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=233400183 Huge upset, Notre Dame just had nothing that day. That was a mid afternoon game on the same day we played Georgia for the SECCG.
I'm going to try to track down the Billingsley Report computer poll to show you how close USC came to finishing 2nd in the BCS. I'll just put it this way, the Hawaii game made the difference at 1:30 in the morning.
So where do we end up ranked? I know this is more or less academic and bull shit. But at the end of the day where do you all think this team lands after all the dust settles? I think we are somewhere between 10-13. Assuming we win the bowl game of course. Future looks good for next year.
