I think that's because it will help all schools just about equally, which is why I like the basis of the article. The SEC as a whole is just going to get that much better that everybody else.
I would have nice to see a dedicated network like the Big 10 has. I like how they have 24 hour conf programing. It would be cool if the SECOND had that.
all it takes is one more loss per season for there to be no NC for the SEC champ. we rarely produce an undefeated team as it is. i dont think it will help the top teams as much because the bottom teams have further to go. maybe im wrong, but i dont think this will help the top teams get an extra 3-4 OOS recruits/yr. its more likely to do this for the bottom teams, particularly because they lose more in state players and their TV time will jump more than the top teams.
No way, not after the disaster the B10 network has turned out to be. Because they have to deal with cable co.s directly, it takes forever to get a station carried (B10 is still not even available in parts of B10 country, including some school's cities) On the other hand, ESPN and its networks are already carried on every cable system nationwide. from a pure audience standpoint, it's a no-brainer. Plus-and lets be honest-is their really 24/7 worth of programming that would be watchable?
It would suck if it wasn't available to me but I've had the the Big 10 network since the day it came out so I guess I never noticed an issue. I think there is plenty of programing you could put on there. You could have the coaches shows, old games, recruiting shows. Plus add new stuff like film breakdowns of up coming games with former coaches to show match ups and stuff like that. They could do behind the screens stories on players, recruits and coaches. Reality stuff where they follow a team through fall practice or during the season like the HBO did with the Cowboys. It would be better than 80% of the crap on ESPN. How cool would a daily Nick Saban show be where some Howard Stern type reporter just follows him around all day asking stupid questions to piss him off? How about tailgating specials where a crew goes to a game at each venue and tailgates live, samples the food, BS with the fans, etc. And it's not like every minute needs to be brand new stuff. You can repeat the shows throughout the week and play old games at night. I could easily program that network.
