He was out at the bars with AJ on Thursday and Friday night. He is out at the College Station bars on Saturday night while his dad is txting the media that poor Johnny is suffering from dehydration. And he has to take his classes online. He can't sit in a classroom. I think the kid is ready to self destruct. His folks, Sumlin, Aggie fans...are all holding their collective breath for 25 weeks. Just long enough to finish the season.
Sumlin has failed every opportunity to say, I'm in charge here. At this point, I can't see enough moral high ground for Sumlin to stand on to even hint at the idea that perhaps, he might be in charge. Nope, the tail is wagging this hound. I'm more interested to see Johnny's work ethic on full display this time around. Come on Sumlin, without NO, YES doesn't mean a thing.
Johnny Football has a unteachable God given talent and a third eye. I don't know how much of the new fame, the jet setting, and hanging out with celebrities and athletes will affect him but it can't help him. Poor guy just needs to be a regular 20 year old but he doesn't do regular 20 year old things. He wants it both ways. Whatever. AJ had the best point of view from last weekend. When the rumor mill begins to churn in Alabama, I want the details! I need sports gossip. It's been dry as a bone all summer.
I thought AJ did a pretty good job of discussing his responsibility in getting Manziel out of bed. You honestly have to know as a friend he would have done what he could to get him to practice, but something fishy was in the works. Just knowing that AJ has hung around him and genuinely likes him gives me the heebie jeebies. Like you, I'm glad to be talking football in earnest and fall practice can't get here fast enough. I'm telling you guys the truth, if LSU doesn't finish ahead of TAMU, with all the drama, I'm shocked.
If LSU doesn't ahead of Bama, TAMU, and the rest of the SEC, I'll be shocked. I fully expect another run this season.
Shocked? Shocked you say? Behind Bama? I know it's July, but those eternal optimistic synapses, in the ole LSU cerebral cortex, are firing on all cylinders today.
My eternal optimism synapse has been short circuited by a little dose of caution. I am saying nothing about Alabama and how they could have spoiled our grand plans but LSU has had a way of shooting themselves in the foot since 2007. Perrrilloux was to be the heir apparent but he got dismissed. 4 years of wandering in the desert ensued. LSU then makes a deal with the devil to beat Bama, with JJ. Well, we had to pay the piper. LSU has to dismiss the best player on the team last year. With Mathieu, they are that extra play away from beating Bama last year and going on to greatness. All great teams but with a little something missing.
