SEC: LSU should have attempted PAT against Tennessee - NCAA Football - Sporting News This is flawed logic. The thinking is that UT could have won on a blocked PAT after returning it 99 yards for a TD. What they fail to consider is that if you force LSU to run a PAT play, they can simply line up for a 2 point conversion and take a knee. Game over.
Wow, are they assuming our head coach is stupid enough to line up for an extra point? Oh, wait.... :hihi:
It's a good rule but what can you do? From what I understand from people at the game, LSU did line up for some sort of try, hopefully a knee, and there were no Tennessee players. I wonder if technically the game should have ended in a forfeit.
interesting you say that. i was wondering that at the time. when the first ruling was made that lsu needed to attempt the pat, it was chaos on the field. the lsu players did try, but the tenn team just kept heading towards the locker room. everyone still on the field was just looking around like "now what"? i wondered if the tenn players refused to come back out if it would result in a forfeit of the game. and wondering if dooley would rather have a forfeit out of protest. but then the sec refs pulled an emily latella and said "never mind".
