That's pretty funny, should we say since we beat Miss St in SEC country we would obviously beat LSU at home since they are an SEC team? Obvously not. As for beating Miss St at home the Ducks put that game away in the third quarter (42-21) and spent the remainder of the game tinkering with the offense. Basically some scrimmage work. Saying the Ducks "almost wilted" is just wrong. Or do you mean like we did at Tennessee (48-13) where the Tenn players were begging for mercy in the second half? Which game are you referring to. Oregon scored 35 in the second half against a tired worn out Tenn team. And please don't compare us to the beavs. That's just insulting. We have the option of practicing in the heat and humidity any day of the week. It's called an "indoor practice" facility. The beavs don't have that. Also, that MSU game was 8 years ago, back in 2003 when Bellotti was head coach, which makes it totally irrelivant. I do remember the Ducks had new Nike cooling vests to wear under their jerseys for that game but MSU wouldn't let them bring in the generator for the cooling systems. Mater of fact the MSU coach made some comment about there was no way Oregon would be allowed to plug the damn thing in within a mile of the stadium. Obviously it didn't make any difference.
LOL I think you guys will do just fine now that Crowton is gone. Our offense immediately got better once he packed his bags.
Yep, two divisions: North: Oregon Oregon St Washington Washington St Cal Stanford Southern: USC UCLA AZ ASU Colorado Utah With a championship game at the home of the team with the best over all record.
I was there, chief. Oregon has played in Tiger Stadium heat and humidity before and wilted in the second half. So have a lot of northern and west coast teams unused to playing in the semi-tropics. Oregon is no different. Learn some geography, OK? Tennessee is 500 miles north of BAton Rouge and not in the semi-tropics. Sorry, you both are yankee western teams. That's a laugh, Oregon doesn't have tropical weather. What, has Oregon shifted its position on the planet or is it still at 45 degrees north latitude? We play serious football in the SEC, leave your lace underwear at home.
Miss State was a very crappy team in 2003, they won a total of 2 games. Y'all ran up the score yes...but y'all allowed them to score 34 against you. We allowed them to score 6 against us that year. That is the difference between a D that is conditioned to the heat and a team that is not. However, that could be the difference between a big SEC D with 4 men up front that are pro ready and a small Pac 12 D. That game was played at rocky top in September…People break out jackets in September in Tennessee. We don’t break out wind breakers in Death Valley until December. With that said, you are talking about a Tenn. team that went 6-7 last year. Nowhere close to being a top caliber SEC defense. Did we almost lose to them...sure...but our offense was TURIBLE last year. Hopefully we get that fixed before the team makes the trip over to Jerry’s World, or it will be one hell of a nail bitter that labor day weekend. I'm predicting a low scoring game with LSU winning late in the game by no more than 3, and I CAN'T WAIT for kick off! I need some football darn it! There are a huge lesson to be learned from the Oregon game with Tenn and Auburn. Tenn was not in mid season form and Oregon looked ready to play six quarters of football. Auburn had the gas to play, which allowed them to physically wear down Oregon and in the end made fewer mistakes. Are we going to be in shape and secure the ball?
