Please forgive me for being inane and delusional. That bottle of Patron Silver must've gotten to me that day.
I cannot wait to watch this game. I've already had a Duck fan tell me they will beat LSU by two touchdowns. :dis: The key to this game (IMO) will be whether or not Oregon can hold up a full four quarters against the physicality of an SEC offensive line and defensive line. In the national championship game they couldn't. Their coach admitted as much after the game. Kelly basically said they couldn't match the physicality "up front". They wore out. I suspect LSU will come out and get Jefferson or Mett a few quick safe passes to get them involved and comfortable in the game but with the depth and talent at RB I just cannot see LSU NOT pounding the ball down Oregon's throat and forcing them to stop the run. Ultimately I think LSU wins and probably pulls away late. Oregon 13 LSU 24 GO SEC!!!
Yes, it's two divisions with a championship game. The championship game is played at -- get this -- the home stadium of the division winner with the better record. At least they named the divisions properly, unlike the ACC and Big Ten. North: Washington Washington State Oregon Oregon State Stanford California South: Southern California UCLA Arizona Arizona State Utah Colorado
I actually like the thought of having a non-neutral site for a champion game. I also like how they drew up the divisions.
I'd feel better if this game was being played in Tiger Stadium in August. Both Oregon and Oregon State have played September games down here and they almost wilted under the humidity. They are definitely not used to it. Dallas will probably be hot and dry, however.
Unless Oregon gets more physical upfront on the defensive side of the ball it ain't gonna matter. During the championship game when Urban and Nick were on the panel both of them mentioned the noticeable difference in size between the Auburn players and the Oregon players when they were down on the field before the game. The players ain't gonna get any smaller in y'alls game. Matter of fact not only will the players still be BIG they'll be faster than the defense they faced in January. I just don't see them being able to hold up for four quarters. Now if they jump out to a big lead in the first half I can see them holding on for dear life in the second half. But if it's even close coming out of halftime I figure they'll begin to fade as the second half marches on.
I hope you are right. I do expect the Tigers to be in top condition after a summer of 7-on-7 in the Louisiana heat. But it's the week-after-week pounding in the SEC that tempers our teams and makes them powerful. I'm not sure if LSU will have that edge in game one.
