Local people spending more locally was what I was thinking...wasn't due to ticket sales. There is a lot in this report that isn't covered.
My favorite stat SEC Soccer tourney expense $4015 SEC Soccer tourney income $425 I can understand soccer not being profitable, but $425!? Lets say tix were $20, that means only 21 people went and they didn't buy anything extra (food, t-shirts, etc.)
That's why I'm asking. I don't know what goes into the SEC's revenue. Yeah, I'm sure the local economy does better when UGA is there, but how much of what's spent on the street goes to the SEC? Is it a percentage? or more of a flat pre-determined rate? Does the amount of the TV cut depend on ratings? I'm sure "SEC Champions" gear sells just about as well no matter who wins it.
Official gear sure. You gotta think that is drastically cut into by the scabs on the streets, eBay, and the Seven-Eleven pushers.
Well you have to realize, you talking about a team, that has the potential to play in at least 6 games compared to one bowl game. 6 games , one college team, that is a vendors dream situation. Think about the ticket sales, the apparrell sales, then if they make the final 4.
I'm trying to get those figures from the office...I'll get back to ya. Commish changes every two years, I think.
That was my favorite too. I guarantee you the SEC made a lot more than that and I guess they didnt have to file the income for all the money they got. I would venture to guess the city of Orange Beach, where it is held, writes a nice check.
