"In 2006-07, five of the top nine football-revenue schools came from the SEC: Georgia ($59.5 million), Florida ($58.9 million), Auburn ($56.8 million), Alabama ($53.2 million) and LSU ($48.1 million)." I find that interesting because if you look at the school with the largest stadium in the SEC yet if fails to make the top 20 in the nation. I found this in the Birmingham News article I was linked to this morning.
There's something fishy about Tenn. not being on that list, when you average more than 100,000 fans per game and have such a fanatical fan base you have to be in the top 20. I see Penn St isn't as high as I would have thought either though.
The only way I know to describe it is what we've all been alluding to for the past few years. The support is dwindling. I've heard they are planning on renovations to the stadium (which will reduce seating) and bring in skyboxes to help with revenue.
Might assume that Penn St move to the Big 10 hasn't caught up to them. Not a huge factor but the Big 10 doesn't have Volleyball.
That's a kinda big difference from one year to the next isn't it? Is LSU/UGA really 6 times as profitable as UF/Arky?
They could be out of the top 20 due to all the money they have to pay the lawyers for the football players.
I would think so. I didn't pay a lot of attn. to the UF/Arkansas game. You also have to consider the game being played in Atlanta Georgia
Yeah, but the game sells out every year, so that part is a wash. Plus, don't know if the SEC gets a cut on hotel rooms for the weekend, but UF/Arky probably filled more of those than a game with the local team in it.
