I don't believe it's just us. 2008 was a fluke due to RP being an idiot. I thought the staff gave him ample opportunity to progress as the backup and it showed when we needed him in the SEC Championship. His stupidity and subsequent release cost us several games last year we probably would've won...including against Alabama. It's nearly impossible to resort to your 3rd or 4th option and expect results.

2009 was a different story. JJ looked good against Georgia Tech in the bowl and was expected to improve after a spring with the starters. For whatever reason he didn't appear to make much progress. If you're still trying to improve his skills, how/when can you develop a backup?

QB is such an important role and even if you have great recruiting and coaching, you need more good fortune here than any other position.

TX had problems all year running the ball. Texas never faced a team that could run the ball this year. It is the reason for 62 YPG. I thought Bama's O Line would beat them up and would win even with McCoy a QB.

I was surprised of Bama's D-backs being beaten deep.

Slack Brown is the reason the 2nd team QB wasn't ready. Instead of piling up stats with McCovy on the power teams like bailor, rice, etc. He should have played the 2nd team guy.

Calling the timeout before half was damn stupid, too. Run out the clock, get to the locker room and settle your young QB plus change the game plan. They make remarks about the hat... 2nd time in two games Slack has hurt his team.

I was not at all surprised to see Texas lose last night; in fact, I figured they would because I don't KNOW what was supposed to be so special about them--other than the privilege of playing in a conference that had a number of teams down this year, especially OU and TT. And even then, OU should've been able to win the RR Shootout--but they didn't have the QB to do it.

Shipley was, by far, their best receiver, and he's not all that special, but has great hands.

Sounds like the spread. Regardless of past success I really didn't follow Texas too much, but I knew in their version of it they like to chunk it. They have speed and it's all about space. I hate the spread.

TT has never been a power. They'll drop back below aTm and OSU next year unless thay can find a coach who can recruit.

I live in Dallas and watch them a few times. I felt OU should have beat them as well as Nebraska. The other Big 12 teams lack enough talent to beat them. Reason TX D gave up only 62 YPG on the ground. We saw what a running team could do to them. If Bama had a QB for a passing game, it wouldn't have been as close as it was.
